Very pleased to report completion of my first 10k run! Completed couch to 5k at the beginning of 2022 and have played around at the 5k distance for some time thinking I’d never manage 10k . At the beginning of this year I decided to go for it.
The NRC training plan progressed a little too quickly for me so I used their runs but repeated weeks until I got to today! Very proud of myself, just goes to show we can all do more than we think.
Now I wonder what’s next….. ?

This is fantastic news!!! Massive congratulations to you! First of all…celebrate. A huge milestone! Ask Mummycav to award you a badge on the thread here…
You’ll have the double honour of being the first one of the month.
As for what’s next? That’s totally up to you! I’d suggest playing around at 10k for a bit. That seemed to work well for you after hitting 5k. That also gives you change to think about what you’d like to do. Do you want to get faster? Do you want to go longer? Do job want to try some events? Do you want to run new routes? Do you want to keep doing exactly what you’re doing now and enjoying that? All of those things are valid. You might like to pop over to the Fun Beyond 10k forum for some inspiration. They’re really helpful and friendly-you’ll see many of the same names there.
Thank you! Oooh yes I’d like a badge. Yes I’m toying with the idea of trail running but not sure yet. I live near Dartmoor so it’s tempting to try off road running up there over the summer. ☀️
Hi Kjb04, congratulations. I think a period of celebration is required ! When you do feel like running a bit further we will be delighted to see you on Fun Beyond 10k. I always said 10k to 10 miles is easier than 5k to 10k; because you have added strength in your legs. But…no rush; nothing wrong with a bit of consolidation around 10k….you may even find a 10k race you fancy.! Whatever you do…enjoy it…you are definitely a long distance runner!!🙂
Congratulations and well done Kjb04 🥳 Your first 10K is so special, and there will be many more to come 🤗
We’d love to see you on the Fun Beyond 10K forum and you could always say hello in a post of your own or join in with our weekly chat. Here is this week’s.
Congratulations to you Kjb04 on completing your first 10K in a sub 80 minute time of 79:55, just like C25K you can repeat as many runs or week's as you want with the NRC training plan, you deserve to be very proud of yourself 😊 🏃🏾 ✔️✔️
I have ran 49/10Ks, my fastest is 1:08:40 and "slowest" 1:18:08 but average around 72/73 minutes, certainly it would be nice to get a sub 60 minutes 10K but that is only achieved when I dream about it 😂 lol.
