Empty roads, wide skies, bushes and trees, lots of birds.3 mile run this morning in 51 minutes and some seconds.

I decided to go along the main road that looks fairly new and has nice wide smooth paths.....warm up walk and across by the roundabout, the bushes and plants alongside the path look vibrant and green, a few flowers too.

Birds I saw on my run....seagulls, a pair of magpies, some starlings, sparrows, a couple of blackbirds, a green finch that came out of a bush flew to the next one, waited for me then flew to the next one, on the grass at the side of the path 2 pheasants, made me jump, one scuttled off into the woods and the other squawked and flew across in front of me, really close....those things are big close up but beautiful, last but not least a couple of great tits.

I ran until my watch said a mile and a half, turned and ran back.

It was good to be out on this beautiful Saturday. I usually avoid main roads but I probably saw a dozen cars in the 51 minutes I was out.

Happy Easter all

I bet it’s a lot quieter than the south coast SueAppleRun . Well done on your birdwatching run.

Being bird aware whilst running (rather than watching; one crash landing is enough for this year!) is great at this time of year, particularly up in the forest. They look as they though they have had a paint touch up when they first appear. Funnily enough I saw a greenfinch in the garden yesterday; they are supposed to be becoming rarer, sadly. Tree creepers make me smile. The big miss these days are yellow hammers; really few and far between. They are number 1 on my list for this year; we (Mrs BC and I) need to get out more!🐥

Not sure I've ever seen a yellowhammer, but the others were lovely to see

I used to see them in hedgerows and just occasionally sitting on telegraph wires. Very distinctive. There may be more up in the Dales; maybe we will get out there this summer.

sounds like a lovely run. I love running in nature. I see loads of diferent birds along the estuary when I run on the Tarka Trail but I only know the names of half of them. 🤣

very respectable run! I love the description of what you saw on your run!

I call pheasants silly birds as they run along the hedges or zig zag across the roads and right at the last minute they suddenly remember they have winds and can fly 🤣
