Must be officially bonkers! I didn't know how I'd feel about today. And was a bit surprised when I woke early all excited and opened a few of the gifts that were under the tree. Wished my granddaughter a happy Christmas by WhatsApp and pulled on the clothes I'd put ready the night before.
Picked her up and off we went, it was drizzling and a bit wild but not cold, so I was pleased I was wearing a Christmas tee shirt rather than the jumper.
We found somewhere to park and as early went onto the beach to take photos.
We were just milling around at the back of the pack when I heard my name being called, it was beth_f and husband, introductions then RunKRun turned up, she was walking today, granddaughter wanted to see if she could go faster.
Time to go and Beth and granddaughter shot off, later to be seen going the other way after the half way turn.
The wind was straight in our faces, I walked a bit ran a bit and puffed a lot. Still a bit chesty but felt fine and heartrate not too high.
Before I knew it all the fast runners were going the other way..... When I got to the turn I realised why they all looked so happy, the wind blew us home, I ran some more and was really enjoying myself but my lungs had nearly had enough.
A man had passed going the other way wearing only swim shorts and trainers, there were lots in shorts. I later saw him diving into the sea, didn't stop to take a photo and I don't think he stayed in long, the waves really were quite big.
Happy Christmas happy parkrun day. I came in at a little over 46 minutes, not bad for a wheezy old girl. My granddaughter shaved another 2 minutes off and finished in 39 minutes, considering not so long ago on her first walking parkrun she passed a bench and suggested to her mum they had a little sit down and had to be dragged along she's done well.
Enjoy whatever you do and whoever you celebrate. Dog walk, dinner on, more gifts opened and what a lovely day I've had.
