Happy Christmas everyone. As 2019 comes to a close I too am starting to wind down. Mentally and physically I am exhausted and need the time off. But it was a great year, I’ve ran all but 2 weeks over the whole year. And last week was 1 of them as I was driving a lot with work and not getting home until late.
I lost 2 stone in weight in 2019. I got my parkrun 50 milestone this year and proudly wore my 50 T-Shirt at my 59th parkrun this morning. I achieved a new parkrun PB this year, going from my previous parkrun PB of 31:04 which I got in 2017 to 25:36 in August this year. I also loved my weekend in Bristol with my Son and parkrun running Buddy as we ran Eastville parkrun ticking off another course on the compass challenge. As a bonus we also met some lovely VRB’s and I look forward to meeting them again in Portrush in 2020. I’m looking forward to running my first Christmas Day parkrun and I’m also going to attempt a New Years Day Double. I’ve ran a few 5K and 10K road races plus a 13K mountain race.
I am looking forward to the 2020 challenges. I plan to work hard to go sub 25 at parkrun, get my 100 milestone and 25 volunteering milestone plus run a few 5K, 10K road races and the mountain race again in November.
I wish you all a very happy Christmas and best wishes to you all on your 2020 running goals. I love this forum as it keeps me motivated and is populated by the nicest people.

Lovely photo of you and your son Oisin looks a bit misty in the photograph, that is fantastic news that you have lost over two stone and have ran your 50th parkrun, PB of 25.36 back in August, great year for you.
I wish you good luck for your quest in 2020 to get a sub 25 minute 5K, I am sure you will get it.
Two parkruns on New years day, good luck for that.
Finally from me Alan in Scotland I wish you and your family a very Happy Christmas and a great running New Year.
Thank you Alan. Have a lovely Christmas with your family too. I really struggled at parkrun this morning. I was exhausted after a busy week in work. I had to take a couple of walking breaks. I finished in 31:08. Oisin was 3 minutes faster than me. But it was great to get out.
Sorry about the original post I sent spelling Oisin's name wrong, I have edited it correctly now, congratulations to him on getting another sub 30 minute 5k.
This morning I was also around two minutes slower than my PB at parkrun, the 'excuse' I have was that I was running in a heavy Christmas reindeer jumper and it did feel a bit warm and heavy at times slowing me down a bit, excuses, excuses 😂🙄
I was exhausted myself this morning at parkrun. I struggled around the course in 31:08. I just couldn’t do it today, had to take a couple of walking breaks. But it was nice to be out.
Cheers Decker. You too. Have a lovely Christmas and best wishes for your running in 2020. I can’t ever see myself doing your level of running. 10K is my marathon. But it’s great to be running.
And the same to you and your lovely family Damien! 🎉🎄🎁🎅🏃👍
You’ve certainly had an amazing year of running, packed with so many wonderful achievements. Here’s to 2020 being as exciting. I’m sure you’ll reach your sub 25 target. You’re a fantastic runner - and Oisin is too. You guys make a great team! 💪
It was lovely to welcome you to Eastville (still can’t believe you were subjected to that hideous B course!) Flossie loved her stick throwing pal! 🐕
Enjoy your festive runs! I’m running my 50th at Eastville next weekend, but I won’t have time to go to PR on Christmas morning as there isn’t one close enough, and I’m volunteering on NYD - the 10:30 slot!
Oh wow Cheeky, I look forward to hearing all about your 50th parkrun. I’m sure you’ll have a fantastic celebration and the team in Eastville will give you a huge cheer. I’m only 10 ahead of you. Oisin was 3 minutes faster than me today. I lost my mojo. I was exhausted. Happy Christmas.
Thank you Buddy. If I can break the 25 minute barrier at a parkrun I’ll be happy. I had to take 3 walking breaks yesterday at my local parkrun. Have a lovely Christmas.
Merry Christmas Damien, and a Runtastic New Year...I'm not surprised you're exhausted, forgetting life in general, just reading all your achievements this year tired me out 😉
Thank you. I’ll need to get back on the healthy bus in the new year. I have been indulging in too much Christmas goodness. Happy Christmas to you and all yours too.

Happy Christmas Damien. Fantastic achievements there. If you’re heading west, do try our Coole park parkrun. Or you can volunteer with us 😉
Thank you Paula. Coole parkrun is quite new I think isn’t it. There is a new one opening in Cavan on the 4th of January. I’m going to go to the inaugural run. I might get to Coole in 2020. Stay in touch, we could arrange our own VRB meet up in the new year. Happy Christmas.
Great. It’s a nice parkrun in the forest. A bit hilly but you’d enjoy that. Some kids run it regularly so Oisin would like it too. Coffee and cake afterward in the tea rooms is not to be missed. I usually volunteer but I’m going to run on New Year’s Day 🤞
It’s been great watching your progress on your running journey damienair, and such a pleasure to have met you and the lovely Oisin at Eastville. Don’t forget to dress up for Christmas parkrun , even if it’s just a Santa hat. We also hope to join you at Portrush in October.
Merry Christmas to you and your family and happy running in 2020
Thank you Dexy. I’m looking forward to seeing you again in Portrush. I’ll have my Black Ba Humbug hat on for Christmas Day at parkrun. Just as a joke. Happy Christmas to you too.
