The old saying " you only know how ill you've been when you get better" is oh so true, and I'm well on my way to getting better π. Happyhays agreed to come too this morning after her amazing 5k in the New Forest a fortnight ago.
My daughter and granddaughter wanted to see what I got so excited about so both signed up and told me they would be walking it. So I had a few of my favourite people with me, said hello to a few people I've spoken to before and after the briefing off we went.
All 4 of us started walking across the green, Happyhays couldn't contain herself and off she ran, then I just couldn't walk any longer and off I went.....way too fast and before long I was walking again, puffing and panting and wondering if I could actually do this.
But.....there was a big smile on my face and seeing the fast runners going back across the green spurred me on...up the only hill that everyone jokes about, it's a few strides up by the cafe... then along the top of the beach along the path looking across to the sea sparkling in the sun., still too fast, with walk breaks but feeling great.
I saw Happyhays turn a few metres in front of me and we cheered each other as we passed, then it's my turn to turn back and over half way run.
Coach B mutters in my ears, various people sing in my ears and I take little notice if either, I'm into run walk intervals and really feeling good. I pass Hays and we give each other encouraging waves.
Along the top of the green, through the funnel and done β slower time than NRC gave me but feeling like I could carry on.
I walk back to cheer Hays in, then we both walk back to wave at my beautiful child with her child..... both of them are smiling π.
Happy weekend all.
