Monday long run

Or indeed, longer than lately. I recently decided I needed to increase my distance again, and run slower so I can just keep running, so today I did!I headed to the seafront and turned towards Worthing, the sun was glinting off the sea and the colours were beautiful but I didn't stop to take photos, I wanted to see how far I could run.

As I came near the swimming pool and gym I was very tempted to go sit in the steam room, but in underwear and teeshirt would have been horrible going home in wet clothes, so I continued running, past the ice rink where a lot of my family go although I'm not brave enough and turn left back onto the seafront. Left again and I'm heading home, just over 5k I couldn't resist so I stopped and took a few photos, ran on then stopped for more. Just as I was coming towards the lights where I'd cross and head away from the beach I spotted part of a rainbow, how lovely, more photos 🤣.

Cross at the lights and head for home.

I realised I really like running to Worthing, there's so much to see, apart from the beach, dogs, sea and distant wind farm, there's places where people are digging up the road, shops, cafes, interesting buildings, cars and people, it makes looking around at the world more fun.

So, a very slow 8.58k run, 505 calories burned, and I'm home, stretch and eat and drink .that's my longest run since New Forest 10k and I really enjoyed it. 😁

Run happy or rest well.

What a fabulous run for you! Long, slow runs are so good for stamina, but I always feel like they’re a great ‘feel good’ exercise. They seem to create a balance that my mind needs. I always feel that I’ve pressed a sort of reset button after a long run. Just running along at an easy pace, watching what’s going on and enjoying it, is good for the soul. Fortunately I still get to do that on this training program, although Saturday’s run of 50 minutes is the longest I’ve run for a long time!

Loved those fabulous clouds in your photos and the gorgeous rainbow!

I didn't know how far I'd go Jools but kept it really slow so I could just run, I only really slowed and stopped for the photos, I love the sea because it's always different, it was stunning going because there was a gap in the clouds and the sun shone across the sea but it was too early to stop

That is an impressive distance. I'd have to walk - and maybe cadge a lift! - to get that far. As usual, terrific scenery to inspire you on your way. Finding some where nicer to run is a definite plan for me.

I often run round the streets here but apart from houses it's a bit boring, I realised how I like busier places, my longest run for a while

I think if I run in the evening next month (which I have never yet done) I might enjoy seeing the Christmas displays. Otherwise from home I am on familiar streets or the park. I'm waiting to be a bit more in the mood to go further than the town or the short drive away country park.

It’s good to mix things around a bit and go for a longer, slower run. It sounds as if it was really enjoyable and you covered a lot of distance too 🙌

It was perfect but I felt shattered when I got home

Well done Sue, what a lovely Morning for running . Milder than Saturday, everything washed by last night’s rain, and a high tide. Just perfect . All the goings on are a perfect distraction too.

I really enjoyed it Dexy5 😄 I was lucky too as it poured with rain just after I got home, even though very slow it was good to keep running for so long too

❤️ Happiness are these longer, slower runs where we have time to take stock of the world around us. There’s always a little gift somewhere and yours was the rainbow! Wonderful! Great to manage a photo too! Always enjoy your photo shoot! Xx

Not a lot really when put like that 😁 oh maybe a little faster but I'll get there, that wasn't meant to be fast and my legs feel like they could go again this morning so it worked

Sounds wonderful! Long, slow, mazey runs, taking time to take in the sights and sounds. You’re blessed to be by the sea 😀🏃‍♀️👍
