I haven't run for a couple of weeks, ice, cold, work, life, when you work over 40 hours a week, have a large family you use most your spare energy and time Christmas shopping this time of year. Then the ice melted and it rained, and the wind blew, there were floods but I didn't notice because just when I thought I'd finished with shopping it turns out there's secret Santa to organise for the people we support and Christmas shopping for one of them, totally overwhelmed I was feeling but. . Today I have a day off and the sun is shining, I have a list as long as my arm of things to do including icing 2 cakes and starting the wrapping process. But I want to see the sea .Getting ready takes a while, and I wore too many clothes but I set off with music in my ears and Coach Cory's inspiring run. Yep, 3.24k sounds perfect

The local paths are made of that stuff that looks like pebble dash and is slick and wet, I can see mud and moss too so decide to walk to the seafront, 1.5k

Cross the road and off I run.

I've been walking fast and now I'm running fast, then I'm walking fast then the run finishes, uh oh, I forgot to turn round so I'm just over 3k from home, I wander on the beach take photos, can't see anything on the phone screen, press the button to close the camera and run home.

6k in under an hour, and feel so happy. I checked back, the last time I ran that distance it was half a minute slower per kilometre. The first 3 were negative too, the 4th was slower due to the non pictures

The only photo on my phone is a close up of half my face seems I didn't take any of the glorious beach, sun and sea but oh well

Run happy all 😀

Woo hoo!!! That first run after a little break is such a sweet one to finish. Really well done. The sun shining on your day off must have been fate.

I feel I need to put my feet up just reading all that you've been doing.I can imagine the joy you felt finally getting out in your running shoes after having to deal with all that stuff.

It's been a bit horrible to be honest, and I've been coming home cooking dinner eating and falling asleep on the sofa then not sleeping well at night so starting each day tired, but I've got my sleep back on track and the run was perfect for me

I do hope things calm down a bit for you over the next few days. 🤗

I thought my life was hectic at the moment, you’re just as bad. Our shop is closing because we’re both retiring and have had a big shop to clear and empty. Shattered as well and bern far too cold last week even for walks at -8;and -11. Too much for the pain in my fingers even with two pairs of gloves on. Shop clear now and we’re officially retired. What with the shop Xmas and as going away for holiday on Boxing Day. Hope fully things will settle now. I thought you were going to retire about now as well. Nice run for you to clear the cobwebs away and ME time. You’re determined you will probably fit in a run somewhere. 🤶🙂

Wow you are busy, how lovely to be retired and a holiday coming up too, hope you can start to relax, I think I'm finally finished with shopping, just the wrapping to do and cards to take in to work tomorrow, I've marzipaned the cakes and will ice them after work tomorrow. Once colleagues Christmas presents are wrapped I can start to concentrate on family gifts to be wrapped

I think I was going to retire, but I'm commited until June and may even Flexi retire then,

That sounds like just the ticket! Well done for making time for a lovely run. I bet it was lovely to see the sea. 😊

The sea was flat calm blue today, I have decided that's my favourite route and favourite distance

glad you managed to get out and have an enjoyable run! The weather has been rubbish though…

I managed a short run last week, and a walk to the post box on Friday. I wish I’d run today, as it ended up quite sunny…but I had shopping and a dental check up. I’m hoping to fit one in tomorrow, but still have a long “to-do” list. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Good luck getting out and running, it certainly makes the world look better and the long list less daunting

didn’t go out…wet and horrible. Ticked a job off my list though! 🙌🏼

Oh no. It seems to be hitting really hard at the moment. I know of several organisations that have staff off with it. I wonder whether that booster is having any effect at all tbh as well as some folk not bothering with it. (Me included).

Hi Sola 🙂 I always feel shattered thinking about your schedule; it is exhausting just reading about it! One of the compensations for reaching 70 is that I don’t have an exhausting job any more, and I can fit my runs in when I feel ready. The rest is all negative though 🙂. I hope that you get some down time over Christmas; you absolutely deserve it.🧑‍🎄🎅🥂

Thanks, yeah getting old kind of sucks but I will give in and retire soon and then the fun will start

Sounds like a pretty perfect run, the weather hasn't been on our side, has it? Yesterday must have been a perfect day for a walk on the beach too. You deserve this break and I bet you had the energy to do anything afterwards 😁

wow! It sounds like you needed that run. It’s been so nice to get out eventually 😊I find the chaos of Christmas really hard too with a full on job and family 🥵. I love those few lazy days between Christmas and New Year as I can just stop ………… Hope you can get out a few more time while the weather stays mild to de stress and recharge.
