Way too hot to run

So i set off steady, headed towards the seafront and it was only the thought of walking home in wet clothes that stopped me wading into the sea, deep blue and calm, very inviting, but no. Today i listened to a podcast, ive been listening to running podcasts at home, i now know that my background music when running is background and I'm not really listening. The podcast played and i kept realising I didn't know what it was about because i wasn't listening. I'll go back to music next time.

3k and that was enough so I walked home. I enjoyed being out in the sun, i love that I can run, it makes me feel happy.

The photo is where we walked monday after our swim.

Enjoy whatever you are doing today

I've not tried podcasts because I think I won't listen carefully enough to follow what is happening. When I listen to a play while being a passenger in the car I do become quite absorbed in it. I fear out running I might lose my way or fall over or something as my attention to my surroundings is lost. But many others do and it works for them. May be I should give it a try.

Ive been wanting to try a podcast for a while, but its listen or run for me, so back to music. I know some enjoy podcast's or audio books and wanted to see if i did.

It took me a long time to try podcasts while running - like you I listen to them at other times - mostly while calf feeding and if anything unusual happens I have to switch it off as like you I get absorbed in the activity and miss bits. However I have been saving my favourites for my long runs and am quite enjoying have them to focus on. Not for the whole run as I also like to listen to nature too. I still feel a bit like I'm missing out on music time though....

I will probably give podcasts another go but for now I'll stick to music.

if you’re not listening to podcasts or music (and sometimes I’m the same) then just run without them! 😊 I do that and my thoughts go all over the place. Sometimes that’s good and sometimes it isn’t. Sometimes can focus on my surroundings, trying to be observant and those are the runs I really like 😊

Was your run comfortable today? I know it was a shorter run and a faster pace than your really slow one hour run.

It was ok, i just wanted to get out. Sometimes I sing quietly aling to songs, i like the background sound when running near roads, its more peaceful over the Downs and then i dont always take headphones, i decided i cant do long runs every day so let my legs decide the pace, i was out about 42 minutes, 28 of them running.

🍏 🏃‍♀️ so lovely to run to the sea! Beautiful path through a bit of shade as well. Sadly I missed my run this his morning after a really bad night with little sleep but hopefully tomorrow! X

3km was plenty for a day like today, it was warm here too. I miss running by the sea, just being able to jump in and cool off after a run.

I doubt I could run to a podcast, I like to clear my mind when I'm out. When I'm ironing though it's a different story!

I’m a podcast fan especially with walking, when I was running it was music. I like listening to Gabby Logan just now on podcast Mid-point , for people starting middle aged . Lovely day you had for your run,.

Hi, I can thoroughly recommend jumping in that sea. I have done it in Spain after a very hot run and it was amazing. Felt so cool and fresh. Can you wear a swim cossie underneath or get someone to meet you with a towel. It’s well worth it. 😄

I've swam lots in the sea, nothing like a cooling off on a hot day, i just didnt fancy the walk home in wet clothes, and yes lol 🤣 i was actually running in my bikini which is just supportive enough 😁

on such a hot day your clothes probably wouldn't have stayed wet for very long!!!

You live in a lovely place Sue! Good that you tried running with a podcast even though it didn't work for you.

I haved listed a couple of times to podcasts when I've gone out for a gentle run and found them quite good but if I'm going out and need to be motivated or get some energy I definitely run to lively music! Re the sea, I would anything to be able to run again along the sea or coastline. Maybe in a few years when I've hopefully moved back to Teesside, at the moment it's long rural flat roads!😵‍💫

I'd love flat rural roads sometimes, one day I'm planning to go back to my childhood village and run round the roads i used to walk. I am lucky though to live near the sea.

You are indeed. I'm about an hour away, but after work and other commitments it's generally just not possible. I do like where I run really, I step out of my door and within 5mins I'm out on country lanes with often the brown hates, roe deer and a little munjac for company, so it's not bad, but I used to love running along the beach, you just can't beat it. One day, I'll be back there 🤗
