51mph winds grey skies, but not cold and no rain.I wasn't sure what was going to happen so I left NRC coaches at home. I wasn't quite sure where I was going either, should I stick to side roads and hope the houses would shelter me from the wind? Or head for the sea and big waves? No brainer really, had to be the sea .
A short walk a few hops and skips, start the watch and off I went, the only real plan for this run was to go slow....so when I was puffing by the time I got to the bottom of the road, glanced at my watch, thought "silly mare, that's not slow" I slowed down and my breathing soon settled.
Heading towards the railway bridge with gusts of wind from all sides I resisted the temptation to go up and over as fast as I could, kept slow steady pace and was feeling happy.
Arrive at the seafront and the lights were against me so it took a couple of minutes to reach the other side...I still wasn't sure where the wind was coming from, turned west and wow π² south west then, and that's harsh, no wonder there aren't many people about,
This was very slow but eventually Garmin showed 2.5k so time to take a few photos and go home.
Suddenly the winds behind me and I'm struggling to slow down but my lungs aren't ready for fast running. Much easier going East.
3k run so I upped the pace a little, saw that traffic was stopped at the lights, sped up some more and ran across the first half just as the traffic was getting ready to pull away. Glanced left, the cars were beginning to move so I went hell for leather and didn't get run over. π Always a bonus.
Time to slow down again, steady running, I'm beginning to tire, I've been reading a running magazine given to me by a very good friend and started to think about my posture, shoulders relaxed, arms not crossing my body,, imagine a string pulling through my body out the top of my head, stay upright and don't slump...cycle legs below me....round and round, so I quickened them up without lengthening my stride and was amazed how good it felt.
Nearly done, nearly home, then the man upstairs came along on his huge motorbike, slowed right down and said hello, so I had to try and keep up didn't I? π€£π€£π€£ I was soon puffing hard and 5k done.
That's 5k Saturday, 5k Monday, 5k Wednesday, I better do something else tomorrow as it's parkrun again Saturday ππ.
Run happy or rest well.....
