NRC, it just had to be A Rainy Run. It was lashing against the window as I sat all warm and snuggly thinking about it. I read a few posts here, I commented on a couple...
If I was going to run I just had to dress and go....maybe another cup of tea first....
So I went, my plan was going to be 20 minutes faster, hmm not on those wet pavements, opened the app and there is was A Rainy Run ...I've not done that one but it's 45 minutes, but that'll do .
I remembered some tissue and left my glasses at home....brisk walk and soon running, it's not so bad.
Cut right to go through the old golf course....that path going downwards looks slippery, under the water leaves and mud I know there's that green slimy stuff, moss, so I walk carefully, I fell there about a year ago. Not many people here today, one very bedraggled looking man with a small dog didn't look much happier than I felt.
Might as well go all out and look at the sea. Coach B is burbling on in the background, about the importance of hats, putting phone in a plastic bag and waterproof jackets. My shower proof one isn't enough. I can feel the water trickling down everywhere and it's not sweat!
After a few minutes wait for the lights to turn red I sprint across the road splashing in the puddles at both edges. I haven't yet mentioned the cars and lorries who regularly washed my legs as they splashed through puddles too.
I start to head towards Worthing, nope, straight into the wind and raindrops that feel like needles on my face. Onto the beach, take a few grey photos, head back towards home. I pass a guy running the other way, he looks more sensibly dressed than me, a nod and half smile returns my greeting, I'm impressed he could even do that heading into the wind and raindrops.
Back along the seafront, wait for lights to change again. Run along the slippy wet path with cars washing my legs as they go past. I hadn't thought the wind was that strong but here it's sideways on and buffeting me from side to side on the path. Up and over the railway bridge, slowly down the other side, don't want to skid, every step now sloshing inside my shoes, and turn for home, uh oh, not quite 45 minutes. Into the park I go, path is slippery grass is sodden so home I go. Pass my upstairs neighbour going to his car, hat, raincoat, gloves the lot, looking warm and dry. "Sue what are you doing out in this? It's raining" he calls out, as if I hadn't noticed ๐๐๐.
Kettle on bath on, clothes off, you could wring them out and aah bliss, hot water all around.
Now I'm warm, dry and full of tea and soup I can honestly say I'm glad I went.
Now, I wonder how much waterproof running jackets are.....
Have fun folks ๐
Oh and when I got home I found a load of texts from my daughter
I've had an idea.
I'm so excited .
You are going to love it!
I can't believe we didn't think of this before.
And now she's obviously too busy at work to tell me what it is! I just hope it's not me joining her for ice skating after work.
