I just wanted to share that today was my first full 5K run since an upper hamstring injury back at the end of July. A long time not being able to run, lots of rehab exercises and a very gradual return (run/walk and then gradually building the distance up). I am still a bit achey from time to time and still seeing the physio, but all seems to be going in the right direction at the moment so for anyone else on the injury couch - keep the faith! 🙂
Small victories…🙂🤞: I just wanted to share... - Bridge to 10K
Small victories…🙂🤞
Achieving that 5k again must have felt so good Sandra. It has been a long haul for you and I am so pleased to hear that everything is going in the right direction again. Keep up all the exercises and build up nice and slowly and I’m sure you will get back to where you were. Whoop whoop.
3 months is a very long time Sandra, so achieving an all run 5k will feel like what it is, an important stage in your recovery (I couldn’t use the word “milestone” there!) and a huge achievement. Congratulations; lots of hard work and patience there.
It takes a while for the “is it going to happen again ?” thoughts to go away, but they do provide a bit of insurance against trying to do too much too soon! I don’t know what a reverse lunge looks like; thanks to your post I am not going to satisfy my curiosity. I hope that you have steady progress back to full fitness now. Thanks to NRC, I always run a slow 1k before starting any intervals these days, even more important now that there is a distinct chill in the air here oop north. In my book a damaged hamstring, alongside runner’s knee, is my worst nightmare. Thank you for the reminder!
what a relief! Good luck with your return to running 😀🏃♀️ Don’t go mad 😁
So pleased to read this, Sandra! Good news indeed 😊👍
What good news 👍😀 so pleased you must feel a sense of achievement and relief to complete a full 5k
Brilliant news Sandra, well done being patient. I will keep the faith too, and hope to be where you are soon. 🤞xxx
Hi Bluebirdrunner 👋 - I ‘ve just seen your reply on Strength and Flex and can see you’ve had a tough old time of it. 😕💐Here’s hoping that everything starts to settle down for you now and you can get back on the road to recovery! I think we do get to a point with this running journey where it’s just what we do and we’re always going to do our best to get back to it! I still feel like it’s early days and my 10k trail runs feel a long way off at the moment but I am loving being back out there, am choosing flat trails and taking it slow. Good luck! 🙂
Getting to 5K again ! Just perfect! A long road to run getting back to it, and don't I know it! I am Week 5 Run 3, repeat, as soon as the weather behaves... so I hope to following your example in a few more weeks time !
Do ,maintain those exercises to make sure you stay where you want to be too! They do pay off don't they...?
Well done to you!
Ah brilliant! Fantastic to hear that. I know what that long road back looks and feels like so well done you for keeping the faith.
Such great news Sandra. Not a day too soon. 🙏 Now go ahead and enjoy injury free runs, you’ve earned them! 🥰
That's such good news, and 5k is a great achievement so you've done it all right obviously
