Hello Everyone. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).

If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. 60th parkrun and also 50th venue! Getting a 50 venues t-shirt π
I was meant to do Barking with my run club today, but either set my alarm wrong or overslept and wouldnβt have made it on time.
Instead, I came to Battersea which was my nendy and the only new one I would make on time. Battersea is Londonβs newest parkrun. Today was event 3. Theyβre expecting 1600+ runners. Wonder if thatβll go down after the first few events.
It was very well organised, an orderly finish queue and lots of marshals along the course. Well done to all the team!
Severn Bridge is for us today. My first outing of any sort for 2 weeks and only my second since the Cardiff HM on 6/10. It was a beautiful morning. Bright sunshine, next to no wind and about 13 degrees. π
Same as last time we went together, running/walking 1:1 and swapping with the buggy after two sets each. Weβll be in Devon next weekend and will do the same, then weβll up the ratio to 2:1 the following weekend. Jen is welcome to the buggy when we reach the running continuously stage! π
Time was 44:46 Garmin, doubtless slower official as we started towards the back. Lots of fun β€οΈ
Hi damienair, Iβm visiting family this weekend and while I would normally go for a walk with my sister , I decided to do a bit of touristing at Arrow Valley in Redditch today. Itβs essentially twice round the lake but the first loop goes out into the park before coming back round to the lakeside and the second loop hugs the lake all the way round. Despite the gloomy skies, the tree colours were beautiful! I started at the back and while I did run a bit, my knee clearly isnβt better so most of it was walking. I had a couple of chats with people, passed a few and came in at 50:54, 515 out of 532 and 5th in my age group - I definitely think I need to improve on that, even walking! My 93rd parkrun done, I wonder if I can complete the 100 before the end of the year? Happy parkrunning folks!
That's the earliest I've been up.qnd out for months, but off to Great Yarmouth I went, it was a misty morning, I was too late to volunteer, as I arrived off they all went, but I met a lovely lady who goes with her son, he runs she volunteers so I clapped and cheered the runners on with her. I'll definitely be back as very local to me, happy parkrun day all xx
I'm still using satnav to get to most places and was a bit later than I expected otherwise I'd have offered to marshall, they always welcome an extra marshal, won't be long though and I'll be walking parkrun π
Thatβs great to hear Sue, Iβm so pleased for you! In the meantime Iβm sure the volunteering opportunities will present themselves and itβs a great way of meeting people in your new area!
Went to Lister Park parkrun this morning number 666 lot's dressed up for the Halloween π event. It was also pacer day and I was the 32 minutes pacer bringing people in at 31.55
A very good afternoon to you Damien and other parkrunners, this morning for my 126th parkrun I took the train ( more about the train later) to Springburn parkrun in Glasgow, the weather was cool, temperature around 11C with a lot of sunshine, when I got to the park many of the people I know congratulated me on running the Great Scottish Run 3 weeks ago because I was wearing my 10K GSR T shirt,
This morning I was pleased to get a sub 32 time of 31:48 and a +60% age grading of 63.16% ,
I mentioned the train earlier, guess what? the ticket inspector on the train back to Cumbernauld noticed my GSR T shirt and told me she had run it in 2022 and 2023 and also ran parkruns when she was off duty, she also told me that it was a long day for her on the trains inspecting tickets on trains from Glasgow to Edinburgh and way up to Perth, not finishing until 7 o'clock tonight, a very long day for her, but I was so pleased to meet another park runner.
Not the same inspector, but sometime last year another inspector saw my parkrun T Shirt and didn't take my fare to Springburn, got that ride free, although I had to pay for a single journey on the way back.
I went to Bognor Regis parkrun today. Another new one to tick off my list! Iβd planned to get a train to London but couldnβt get out of bed early enough but Bognor, being a bit closer, was just about do-able. Four laps around a lovely park. It didnβt get boring though as there were so many pathways and turns amongst the trees and flower beds. I got to have a brief chat with David_G at the end too π. Mostly walked it as my knee is playing up and my official time was 46:19
Itβs a lovely parkrun isnβt it, crossing the miniature railway lines about 14 times I think? Good luck with your physio next week Mudita11 . Great you got to meet Count Dracula -David-G too
Yes itβs a lovely one Dexy. Most enjoyable apart from the drizzly rain but a lovely park. Thanks re the physio π€πΌ. Iβll be taking it easy this week x
Early start for us today for Event Set Up and First Timers Welcome before rushing off to an AGM (I had to go as I was doing a short presentation).I will be RD at Juniors tomorrow and will be leading the Warm Up in full witches uniform. π§
Having missed 2 weeks of parkrun I ran at home Southsea parkrun this morning. Despite it being PB conditions, having run my virtual Great South Run on Tuesday I knew it would not happen today and was happy to Jeff the last leg . However, I still came in first in my age group of 4 with 35:50 and 59:49% age grade.
The Portsmouth Uni Cheerleaders group volunteered with us this morning, dramatically reducing the average age of the volunteers. π
They seemed to enjoy it so hopefully will return again.
After a 3 week gap for various reasons, I finally got back to my home parkrun at Market Rasen this morning, the first time since 22 June due to our summer travels. It was a lovely bright and dry morning, no wind and 9c so just perfect. Time was 35.07, which seems to be about par for the course nowadays (but I did get 07 for the stopwatch - only 8 more to get!) I was 121/145 and 2nd in my age group out of 4!
Today was my 200th parkrun and I was planning to celebrate it at an inaugural parkrun in Bundoran with my friend Ida. However one of our parkrun friends Dad passed away during the week. So instead Ida and I went to Trim and did Porch Field parkrun which is just 10 minutes away from us. The Funeral mass was at 11am in Trim. Ida and I walked around the two lap course in a time of 46:49. Then we went back to the car for a quick change before attending the funeral mass. We had a lovely chat as we walked around the park and planned our parkrun touring for next year.
A truly bittersweet day. Congratulations on your 200th parkrun and I hope your friendβs dadβs funeral provided happy memories and solace for his family
I am sorry your 200th run turned out differently than you hoped damienair , but you showed a true mark of respect by doing it at walking pace and then attending mass. You can stick a 200 label on your shirt next week and run for a PB.
A sad day damienair but you spent time at parkrun walking, chatting and planning the future....and still attended the funeral mass. Thoughts with you all who knew him
Weβre away in a bit of a parkrun desert-the nearest one is about half an hour away and hotel breakfast times didnβt work. I did a notparkrun on a treadmill instead. Iβm sure Iβve done that before but garmin awarded me a badge anyway!
A perfect morning for making progress at Portsmouth Lakeside today - mild but cloudy and fewer puddles than last week. I decided to go off at a slightly faster pace and hence avoided getting caught up in 'the pack', as the course restricts us to two abreast for the first km or so. I think that made the difference in me knocking 32 seconds off my best time post-hernia (30.17). Sub 30 is definitely in my sights now!
Absolutely fantastic running. Very well done and congratulations on your post hernia PB. Brilliant effort and yes the sub 30 minute parkrun is not far away now. πππ
It was a lovely sunny morning at Trentham Gardens yesterday. The trees are all gold and red and brown now and the gardens have been spookily decorated for Halloween. I decided to do intervals and chose an NRC 'Deuces' guide. Amazingly it got me round in my best time this year and only 30 seconds off my all time PB! 39th PR done. Over 800 participants this week. Love this time of the year.
That sounds a lovely autumnal parkrun Bruch1, and itβs always great to get a PB of the year. Thats all I try for now as Iβm not sure Iβll ever reach my pre pandemic time again.
This is about last weeks parkrun 19/10, quite a good turnout for CR43 Ystalyfera, 91 starters and the weather was ok, a little bit damp and plenty of leaves underfoot. I also bumped into someone I hadn't seen for quite some time, it was great to catch up on the start line and had a natter after the run. My time was 25.50 which I'm pleased with, as I think I'm getting quicker overall, my target is to get down to 25 minutes, that would be really cool. I didn't parkrun this Saturday due to having a race on Sunday, I will post a report of that event somewhere else on hereπ
I ran my first Parkrun in ages last weekend πββοΈ Pancake flat one by the sea on Morecambe prom π. It was great! Loads of runners π. Walkers too, all enjoying getting round on a lovely morning π
