Easing myself away from the injury couch.....

After over a month of lying on my back waving my legs around in the air each morning and evening; completing my exercises to ease off my tighter than tight piriformis muscle, I am pleased to say I am starting to feel a little better.

I tried a couple of body combat classes at the gym at the beginning of last week and attempted a 3k run last weekend. A little bit of discomfort was felt after each session but a nice long stretch afterwards helped. Today I ventured out for a 6k part run, park walk jaunt, still feeling the discomfort, but it felt so good to be out again, I've really missed running! Now there's a statement I never thought I would utter - even 6 months ago.

Still taking it steady as I can't cope with more time on the injury couch, but seeing a light now at the end of my couch

Thanks Antonioa, i know who would have thought it! I found myself looking enviously at people running as i was out and about.

So pleased you're on the mend Sandi. It's depressing not being able to run - I can understand you being cautious,- that way you'll come back stronger than ever!

Thanks Tartan cat. Yes taking it nice and steady, my run today was more like a shuffle, and my 5k time was way, way minute slower than my previous pb.

But i've decided not to focus on time or distance, just get out and enjoy what my body will allow me to do x

I had that injury some years ago, feel very sorry for you but pleased that you are getting better.

Thanks Agelesslass, It was certainly painful, not just running, but also walking, going upstairs and sitting. I've been determined to feel better and religiously done my exercises. I'm listening very carefully to my body now and hopeful that over the next month or so I can gradually build on my running again.

Ahh great that you're back out there! Ooh a month!! 😱 I think that's the injury I have at the moment, started off with deep deep buttock pain now a week later it's duller and around my hip area - I'm missing my running! Pleased to hear there is light though 🌟 Enjoy those long awaited runs 😊

Thanks Flaraflarkin, it's been hard, I've really missed my runs and I'm a regular at the gym too with 3 body combat classes each week. It's been tough not doing anything, but am pleased that things are a little better now.

Hopefully you won't be out of action too long xx

Oh that’s so good to hear Sandi. I can imagine you must have been going stir crazy. Still, the weather hasn’t been great so it could have been a worse time to be on the IC!

Hope you’re back to full strength very soon! 💪😀🏃‍♀️

Thanks cheeky. Must admit there have been some mixed feelings about not running recently. It's true to say I have really missed it, but there has been a certain sense of relief when it's been cold and wet that I haven't had to venture out in it!
