well I finally felt as though my nasty cold had gone, no dizzy spells this morning, nowhere to be early so I had no excuses left…… it WAS raining and I nearly talked myself out of it again but I have a sports massage booked for later so I thought let’s make the most of it and out I went.
Walked the warm up and felt pretty good and then it was time to run and I sped up and within seconds my left ankle was twingeing….. you know when it sorts of feels like it needs to click back into place? I shook it a couple of times and tried to flex it fully and it kept making me wince. I stopped and did a couple of squats and after an almighty crack it sorted itself out and off I went again. I had put week 1 of bridge to 10k podcast on just to see how I felt and I was quite glad to walk for one minute after the first 10 minutes of running.
It was one of those runs where you have to watch the ground as everywhere is covered in fallen leaves which the rain has made very hazardous and slippery. And the steady drizzle was ok mainly but made the backs of my hands ache with the cold. Strange as I ran in a thin short sleeve teeshirt and capris and was warm on my body and arms
I hadn’t really planned my route as it was just “ get out there before you talk yourself out of it !!!” So I ended up turning and running along the pavement parallel to the main road and then ending up at the cut through behind the school. I’d had no real idea of how long I was going for or how far , as I had no idea how my lungs would hold up, after being a struggle to breathe and walk anywhere for a week.
I ended up running for a further 20 minutes in the gentle drizzle and as I stopped my watch the rain stopped and the sun came out 🙄. Typical!!😂 So I was pleasantly surprised to have run for 30 minutes total and I am glad I went and now, after my lovely hot shower, I am about to go for my sports massage and I know once again it was the right decision to go out and run.
Lookjnv forward to next one again now 😁
