Hiya,

Today another 30 minutes was on the plan, but looking outside it was raining. Or rather it looked like a drizzle, but my weather app said rain. What to do, go out or hit the dreadmill? A drizzle is fun and the dreadmill is... well dreaded, so outside it is.

Drizzle? I have to swallow my words and spit out the word rain! It was chilly, my hair stuck itchy to my scalp due to the rain and my glasses needed windscreenwipers. On top of it, I felt an ache in my lungs in the first 10 minutes (combination of rain and cold?) and running felt hard. The gremlins told me to just turn around and call it a day. Could only get them to shut up when I was past half my run as running further equalled going home. Anyhow, I bit through and ran my 30 minutes. But it was not pleasant at all.

Next time it rains (not drizzle), it will be the dreadmill...

Cheers, Evy

Well done on getting out they’re anyway . I hate getting my hair wet and plenty of it just now but good news today hairdressers open Scotland 5th April . Yippee

in reply toDoris8

I was taking a hot bath after my run anyhow, so besides the itchy feeling I don't mind getting my hair wet. Here the hairdressers are open since a month or so. But I could only get an appointment 11 March, my previous appointment was in September last year! My hair looked like a dead codfish or something 😂

I’m like a shaggy sheepdog 🤣

in reply toDoris8

I say a shaggy sheepdog is better than a dead fish 😝, luckily I don't smell like one 😂

Well done for getting outside. Sometimes we just have to embrace the weather 🤣 No fun in glasses though...

in reply toLizcanrun

Oh but I do embrace the weather. Cold, ice, snow, drizzle, all fun. But rain and wind and cold combined... not so fun 😝

Well done Evy. A run is a run. And a win over the gremlins is always good.I hate going out in the rain - I also need windscreen wipers😏. I'm not bothered if it starts after I've set off but when it's already raining I'm afraid the gremlins often win.

in reply toLifluf

Yeah, I thought it was just a drizzle. But it was slightly more than that. Plus the cold did not exactly help. I do think that next time if the weather looks like that, I'll take my chance on the dreadmill. It was just too nasty. Cold, no problem. Wind, not happy but ok. Drizzle, no problem. Rain, less happy. Rain and cold and wind? RUN FOREST!

Well done Evy for beating the gremlins! Some days runs just suck, but you battled through it. I had a similar experience recently, I almost turned round after about 2 minutes, but somehow kept going! We’ll get there 😀🏃‍♀️👍.

in reply toFrenc

True, some days are just not good days. But I do think I'll hit the dreadmill next time it's a combination of rain, cold and wind. That's just not my kind of weather. I'm lucky my meds against arthritis work so well, because otherwise I think I'd be crippled now because of being out in that weather yesterday!

Well done, cold and rain don’t make fir a fun run

in reply toSueAppleRun

No, it was not a fun run indeed. I mostly have fun runs, but this was not one of them. But oh well, done is done. Better luck next time!

Yes done is done I don’t mind a bit of rain but struggle with cold

It depends on how heavy the rain is. Light rain I find refreshing, even though my glasses get spotted with raindrops. Wind-driven, heavy rain is not pleasant.

As to the hair... well... having any sort of hairstyle is now a distant memory. What I have left has two states: trimmed or untidy.

Light rain is indeed not bad, but this was a combo of rain (not light but not heavy heavy either), cold and a chilling wind. Not a nice combination. The hair, meh I took a hot bath afterwards, so I didn't mind. But it was itchy! No, my cats don't have fleas. I just get itchy scalp when I get rain on my head, haha.

Well done BS, you kicked the gremlins up the derrière and now they’re licking their wounds while you’re feeling happily smug. Good for you! 👏👏👏

in reply tocheekychipmunks

But but but... I got them wet! Won't they come back bigger and nastier now? 😱

Noooo, they know you’re out to squash them. They’ll move on to someone else! 😅
