It’s the Easter holidays and I’m in a break between study modules. I’m making the most of it with a bit of a chilled time. The builders were back so I thought it was a perfect tone to rack up 9k steps around a designer outlet. Sadly Sweaty Betty let me down with the wrong combination of styles and sizes. We won’t even talk about how effective a “medium support” bra is when you try jumping up and down. No run related kit but I can home with a shiny new toaster and a very pretty handbag.
There’s a local 10k event in June MrU and I hope to do together. That means he’s more up for running than usual. Even so, the weather was grim and it took a bit of persuading that going out would be fun. We agreed that he’d do just ten minutes and I’d carry on. I thought he might get into it and I was right!
We walked for five minutes having a good old whinge about the rain. Once we started running, moaning continued but we’re Brits so it was quite fun. We did notice lots of birds were still singing. The horses seemed to be having a nice time chasing each other in the field. We could hear lambs in the barn. It was actually quite nice! MrU decided after five minutes he was enjoying himself to keep going for ten. I felt quite smug that I’d predicted this would happen but didn’t share my thoughts! Running as a pair makes dodging puddles a bit trickier. I gave up and started running through them.
After a mile, MrU was ready to turn for home. I debated being antisocial and just running off on my own but I accompanied him back to the start. Then it was time for some solo fun. I topped up to 5k with the D and B60 which made it hard to keep to a chillled pace. It was nice to have a mix of company and headspace. Plus, when I got back, tea was already on the go. Result!
This was a much nicer run than anticipated. My new motto? Brave rain and you might just enjoy it! Either way you’ll still have the miles in your legs.
Happy April Showery runs all!
