Last week Willow had a horrible cold, I thought I’d dodged it when Thursday evening I got a sore throat and bunged up nose…. Friday a day out at Goodwood revival and had a fabulous day even though I felt pretty rough, Saturday did very little, Sunday felt a little better, cleared weeds and planted a load of spring bulbs…. Monday back to work.
A sad day indeed, a few of the people watched the Queen’s funeral which brought back memories of lost parents, lots of tears lots of cuddles.
Came home and watched the journey to Windsor, this went on longer than expected, I got changed, I put dinner in the oven, if I didn’t go soon i never would.
A little walk, a benchmark run but I wanted to go further so I ran to our usual park and ran round the old golf course, I ran back to our original track and once round. I ran along the grass to my favourite apple tree, then through a hole in the fence and along a rough track, looped back round where I should have been able to get through another gap but the fence had been repaired. I ran on turning left through trees. I was running along side the railway line realising I was heading in the wrong direction and still no way to get onto the road.
I began to feel lonely, I realised I was far from anyone and no one knew where I was so I turned back and ran back, my legs were tired, some walking helped, back onto the road home, over the railway bridge, as I ran over a train went through under.
Home, stretch, legs ache, dinner is cooked and it was OK but very very slow, not my best idea, I don’t think I’ve run 5k after work before and especially not when I’ve still got a cold, I don’t think I’ll do that again
Rest in peace our Queen

Thank you, we are interviewing tomorrow, I’ve just remembered I didn’t sleep much last night and was up at 5.45 for work this morning, no wonder I was tired
I hate it when the run goes the wrong way and you have to turn back plus you had your safety in the back of your mind. HOWEVER, you made it and you live to run another day. Rest up, take it easy...and run another day 🙂
I’ve started yet another plan. I do like a plan 😂 so will be running a bit more regularly i hope, Last time I ran down there the fence had a person sized hole in it which leads out to the road home but someone mended it
Well done on your run especially after a long day and not feeling so good. Your run made me think of being little again, it was the going through the hole in the fence that did it 😊. I hope you are more rested today.
Thank you, talking of being little there was a tree with a hole in the trunk that we used to wriggle through, I tried as an adult and decided i might just fit but might get stuck so didn’t
Thank you Floss, it was a long day with no break, my poor nose still blocked and dripping under my mask, then the last person didn’t show for the interview so I used what I’d bought for her cooking test and turned it into dinner for 12, home and our dinner in oven and flopped
Always, but I’m fine… just didn’t get on with much because of interviews but we’ve offered a job to a cook!!! we’ve been a year without a cook and shared it out so it’ll be wonderful to have someone else looking after the kitchen 😀
Good for you Sola. The fact you went out after work, and with a cold, is worthy of lots of kudos.
I have that cold too. It’s on the way out, but it was a horrible one and I’m telling my legs they need to take me for a quick trot this morning if I have any chance of racing again this weekend. Your post humbled me, so thank you. I’ll be off to the gym in 30 minutes. 🙏🏻
Enjoy the gym cheekychipmunks 😀 I’m just waiting for Willow to wake so I can go out and the sun is shining, It’s my day off and I slept 7 hours so ready to run
It would be great if everyone could get these colds out of their systems before I head south. 🤞 I haven’t seen anyone coughing or sneezing up here so far.
That was a really good run Sola. Exercise after work takes a lot of determination, but it feels good when you have finished and showered! Maybe cooking dinner for you should have been an extra test for the chosen candidate.😋
She came in the morning and made an apple crumble for pudding, the idea was the morning one would make pudding which we can reheat and the afternoon one make dinner which we can’t reheat, so someone had to cook dinner 😀
The run was a bit daft i was shattered but slept well.
I too hope we all get rid of our colds before you travel south
Apple crumble; with proper custard?😋 Throw in gooseberry and rhubarb crumbles too and I am hooked!! Nowadays yoghurt is more likely 🙄. I would definitely run if a post run crumble were on offer!
