I am at last getting into a routine with my runs - Sunday=long, Tuesday=5k Thursday=short 3/4k with hills or intervals. For the last couple of weeks I have managed to do three runs a week and Realfoodieclub you will be pleased with me because I have even done some strength exercises (arms and core)!
Today I woke early and was off out with Squiggy about 6.30. Weather seemed cooler and overcast, although still humid. Warm up walk down to the park and then started running down into the town, along by the harbour where folk were already setting up the Sunday market and to the beginning of the old railway track. Squiggy is able to run off the lead along this track, which is great because he can sniff about, chase pigeons and splash in the river while I jog along at my own pace. I wanted to run at least 10k but hoping to do a bit more. This meant adding extra onto the usual run - I love exploring!
We came to the village at the end of the railway track, under the bridge, up some steep steps and along a narrow footpath onto a lane. Steep lane! But rewarded with view (see photo). Next downhill (Squiggy on short lead!) and through a very pretty village with thatched cottages and lovely gardens. Then more uphill - puff, puff until I spotted a footpath sign, so I thought 'Let's see where this goes?'. It went down the edge of a field and was rather rough and uneven so pace slowed. At the end I came to a narrow lane, not sure where I was so decided to run back up the lane - luckily no vehicles! Eventually we got back to the familiar track and I was feeling good, just a bit of a twinge in the calf sorted out by stopping for a few stretches. Back down the railway track, Squiggy enjoying a run off the lead again, and into town. Across the level crossing, up the steps into the park then a beep from my watch and it said 12k! Yay, it is nearly two years since I last ran that distance!
Happy running everyone

Beautiful photograph and what a super run Sue..it is good to know that you are getting into your stride... ( sorry)... The run sound just perfect, apart from the hills What a location too, the harbour, the cornfields etc etc...If you get lost, would Squiggy have an idea of the right way back home... ? Just wondered
Also, just struck me that your runs are so like mine were before small runner in training... and which am getting back to... on different days though...That pattern really works for me, especially the lovely, Sunday runday!
Yes, a bit of a puff up the hills but hills are so good for us aren't they 😬! The rest of the route is basically flat. Not sure if I would trust Squiggy to get us home, too many exciting smells and distractions 😁
