We ran 8k

We set out to our half kilometre track round the park not very early this morning but after a good nights sleep

Couple of rounds of the track and off I went on my running adventure, gentle jog beside the golf course, turned right past the garage and right again off the main road to run where i haven’t before, with no plan and taking turns in the road where i felt like it wondering if i would come out where i expected to or would find myself in a close and have to turn round

At about 4k back on the main road and heading towards the sea, headphones had long given up so gentle Sunday morning sounds, someone was strimming and i could smell newly cut grass, a group of pigeons eating bread in a front garden flew up round my head as i passed , on the main road parts car fumes

Back heading east along the sea front, I can see the sea and the sun came out, warm on my bare shoulders, check in, my feet were losing their spring, my knees no more achy than when we started, oh dilemma back past the golf course? or beside the lake? neither i carried on the road and ran round the outside of the park, 7.5k and back on the track, sped up a little bit and carried on past 8k because i wanted it to be 5 miles, but where is Willow? he had also got bored ran round the golf course and lake then met me for his last half k, so we finished together and came home happy

Tea for me coffee for Willow and a banana each, now the bath is filling with hot steamy water

Happy Sunday runners

If slow = enjoy, there’s nothing more to say!! 😄 ‘Enjoy’ is always my top priority, but it’s extra pleasing to know that you don’t have to go fast to reap all the health benefits. 😄

Slow running is hard work on the legs but enough energy left to finish strong

Nice to be thought of thank you, the sun only glimpsed out for a few minutes and it was hay, i could only see beachy head and the wind farm because i knew they were there

You are super close to 10k now 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Great that you were able to step it up too at the end. This is a really good signpost for you both. One more mile and you will do it!!! Then I can run around the garden shouting!!!

20 years ago I was a home care support worker and remember most of the roads in east Worthing but lovely to get off the main road and hear the sunday morning silence

Super description of your run Sola. You sound comfortable and in good form 😊. Happy running 🤗

Sounds like a lovely run this morning 😁 and 8k woo hoo! but the most important thing is you enjoyed it. The Magic Plan is really working for you and that 10k is edging ever closer!

It really is a great plan, I’ve always wanted to run further but i’m loving that Willow does now too and that’s the Magic

Fantastic!

It's so wonderful that you can share the journey together.

My other half doesn't get it at all, although with two metal knees running is probably not the wisest choice of sports

You did it! Well done 👍 I'm going out on Tuesday for my 8k 🤞 Hope I find it as easy as you made it sound 🙂

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to 59er

It probably wasn’t that easy but we didn’t push speed at all so it didn’t feel too hard, next run for us is 5k 😀

We love our deep hot bath after and feel renewed for it, oddly enough we both ate a banana when we got home and then didn’t eat until dinner tonight
