Woke to wind and rain on my day off

It was raining on Wednesday on my daughters day off and she text so i sent back ‘horrible weather’

Her reply surprised me ‘ Do you think so? I’m sitting here looking out and my garden is like a rainy forest. I can’t change the weather so i changed my attitude 😀’

Where on earth did i get her? all that positiveness

Back to today, I woke several times during the night with left calf cramping but hey it’s my day off and we haven’t run much lately so off we went

Slow and steady round the track and a bit boring so i peeled off and ran to the seafront past the lake, Willow plodded round the track a few more times and sat in the car. I decided to walk/run home so off he went in the car to make the tea

I don’t much like running along the main road and my calf was pulling going over the railway bridge but as I got to the top I ran over a train and grinned

That kilometre was mostly walk, got to the bottom of our road and remembered trying to run the short length of it some years ago and failing so I wondered what it would be like now, oh easy in fact that was a good pace, almost 4k so through the park and towards work, turned and ran gently home, just over 5k just over 49 minutes and very satisfying

That’s the first 5k for a while, the plan we were following was either 3.44 or 4.83 k

A good balanced run and all the while thinking ‘calf no worse keep going’ so I did

Have a great weekend every one

Ha ha I don’t think so but she is lovely and I’ve been lucky to have her for 46 years now 😀

I lay in bed on Wednesday listening to the rain, it sounded great. The wind however sounded awful.

Well done for getting out 👍

Have you tried stretching/rolling your calf’s, quads and hamstrings? It’s often the tops of our legs playing up that causes our calves to overcompensate.

Your post has cheered me up on a cold and rainy morning 😁👍 love your daughter's attitude and your positive thinking this morning 😁👍 I'm pretty much of a rule follower normally in life but I've found a much more relaxed attitude to running- I set off with a plan but change it to suit- as you did this morning. I could smell the ozone as you headed for the sea. Well done on your run 👏 🤗

We need a plan to follow otherwise Willow doesn’t run far but I like just listening to my body and doing what i feel like

Sounds like a great run. I love running in the rain and did my 10k on Wednesday in it and then today it was windy ( not so keen ) and my 4k felt like much more of a struggle. Strange how we all prefer diferent weather to run in. I love spring/autumn running and struggle in the summer when it’s hot.

Well done on your run today even with the achey calf 🏃‍♀️👏👏

If that means alcohol not for us, but we got back and had a phone call to ask if Willows daughter and grands could pop in, so instead of a lazy breakfast i made a quiche and with the left over pastry half a dozen jam tarts, i’ve eaten loads of quiche it was tasty

Great post Sola - it really sounds as if you enjoyed your run! Have a great weekend- I think we’re in for a windy one here on the South Coast aren’t we?!
