After work run? must be daft!!

Arrived home from work, Willow handed me a cup of tea, “thought we were going for a run?” says I, “oh I’m busy with the computer, you can still go” answers Willow.

Took my work trainers off, peeled my socks off, oh dear yawning.

But….I know I will spend the evening saying “should have gone for a run” and “i was only going for 10 minutes” and being disappointed in myself.

went to change, sat on the bed, oh I could lay down and go to sleep, but….it’s only 10 minutes. so leggings and running trainers on.

Set up music, zombies run, out the door and warm up walk.

Start to run, blustery wind, in my face then gusting to the side, then behind me and in my face again.

I had thought a swift 1k but not with this wind. Breathing steady I plod on and although the spirit is willing the legs start shouting at me because haven’t had much to drink all day and whatever I do they just won’t go faster, 1k… whoops, I was immersed in music and talk of zombies on a scouting mission and forgot to turn round after 5 minutes

Turned off the road and headed for home, that wind is still gusting battering me around but I’m enjoying my run.

2k and nearly 20 minutes so walked the last .26k and home…..

Was that sensible? nope, was that fun? yup 😀

Found out looking at my stats was very slow a perfect zone 3 run so my heart is happy

Not my photo but sea a day ago

Have fun whether you are running or resting

Running not happening for me just now, post menopausal body can’t stand warm weather runs, I did complete a 40 mile cycle today though🙆🏻‍♀️

That’s a long way on a bike

Tell me about it, so very hungry when I got home😂 was a lovely ride though, loving these sporty days instead of a summer holiday

Well done - when you sat down on the bed, I thought ahhh, will she/won’t she?! But she did! And had fun in very blustery conditions. 🏃‍♀️😊🏃‍♀️😊🏃‍♀️

Thank you, I was thinking will she won’t she right up til I was out the door and then I was still thinking 10 minutes it won’t take long

I find those runs when you nearly don't go are often the best. I wonder if it's because we start of slowly with no expectations. Either way-good decision, good run!

It was slow but I really enjoyed it

Well done for getting out after a busy day at work when it sounds like it would have been so easy to skip it, huge kudos. And another fantastic photo, that sea looks wild in the foreground but so peaceful where the surfers are in the background, just wonderful. :-)

The sea has been wild, am reliably told that summer is returning tomorrow, so we shall see what happens as we know anything could

I do admire your energy in going out for a run when you’re knackered from work - not sure I ever could when I was working! But we’ll done on getting out there with those zombies and getting home safe !

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Oldgirlruns

Ha! Thank you, I don’t think much energy was involved, it was a very slow plod but better than staying in,

Ooh, well done! I almost expected you to fall asleep on the bed 😂, but no, off you went out into the wind and did a Zone 3 run! Excellent! And now you can enjoy your evening, knowing you went out for a run 😊👏🏃‍♀️👍

Well done on getting out, and i know you'd have been so glad you did, when you finished, i've had a few like that recently, on one almost let the rain make me come home, but i kept going, it really is like a drug this running stuff, and how good it can make you feel, no matter how tired you feel. 😀

Did feel good when I got back but fell asleep as soon as we’d eaten 😂

Well done WillowandSola. The sea was crashing over the prom when we went out today, so having been sprayed once we changed our route.

Well done getting out, I failed because every time I thought about it, it pelted down with rain. And now I feel a bit grubby and unsatisfied 😬 Ah well, that's Zumba and a run tomorrow!

Well done on getting out there after work…it can feel so hard, but does help clear the mind after a busy day 💕…there’s also something rather invigorating about being out in a blustery day 🏃🏻‍♀️🌬🌊

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to H4CS

Even 1k is fine, i feel if i get out on a work day anything is a bonus, then days off i run more, I like a 10 or 20 minute run, it’s just enough to know I’ve done something

What a woman! A hard day, knackered and you still went out. Those running gremlins don't stand a chance against you. Brilliant!!!

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Fionamags

Some days they lay around on top of the duvet though and won’t let me get up and run

CaterinaWilkini profile image

Ah brilliant! Good to know I’m not the only one who drags my feet sometimes (pardon the pun) I find the rain quite refreshing to run in - infinitely better than overheating (I’m 52 and feel your menopausal pain) ☺️

SueAppleRun profile image

Ha I’m 65 and menopause was long long ago, just mad work hours old age and tiredness

Well done for getting out after an exhausting day 😴. It’s so hard isn’t it. I do find it helps to run the day away and I always feel better afterwards. I don’t think I would have set the Zombies 🧟‍♀️ after me though 🧟‍♂️ That’s above and beyond 😂

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Frizzbomb67

Those zombies have been woefully neglected lately and I had forgotten I’d set them to 45 minutes so will have to finish that run one day

I think you reflected a lot of us with the 'just a little lay down' scenario 😉. Well done for resisting temptation, we all know the regret of letting the lazy gremlins win. Glad you enjoyed the run and many more. 👍
