It’s been a crap week, all these months and we’ve managed to keep our home at work covid free and last Friday we got our first case, oh my, suddenly the staff were were so scared, all trying to keep positive while caring for unwell people and well people, trying to limit movement within the home to limit spread. I should have finished work at 3 and met Jo to run at 4, didn’t walk out the door until 7.15pm. and it’s been a bit like that every day since.
But today is my day off! so we finally went for a run, there’s a run near the river that is a circuit of 2.1 k we decided to go round twice then a bit more and about 8 weeks after restarting c25k with Jo we are continuous running again. Jo is at week 6 but pretty fit so decided to take it slow and get 5k
It’s a lovely place to run, river, fields, hills in the distance and a weak sun shining through light cloud.
The run was uneventful we chatted all the way round, probably our slowest yet.
I paused to take a couple of photos and now home, stretches, cup of tea, it’s good to have a day off and up to now i’m still negative so feeling positive
Happy running all and stay safe

Tiny picture is tiny, you were on the one that’s the cycle path then? One day we will accidentally bump into each other up there and only realise afterwards, when we read each other’s posts 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks, once we’d got over the shock it has just been a lot of work, but i think the vaccine is keeping people from being seriously ill and high is a blessing. It was good to be able to get out and run
Yes it certainly is a lovely place to be, although I can run anywhere, park for Willow, river for Jo and street for me
Oh Sola. I’m in complete sympathy. That must be tough on your team. You’re all doing so well and work so hard. Cases are high at the moment. My teenage son has tested positive, despite having his first vaccine. He’s been working brilliantly as a record keeper at the vaccination centre with me and we have worked so thoroughly and carefully not to pick it up. It’s quite a shock to the system to suddenly have it in our home. He’s isolating in his room and not bouncing off his bedroom walls quite yet. Fortunately my husband and I are negative.
Thank goodness for running! Enjoy your stress-buster runs with your friend xx
Oh Dolly-dot, your poor son, it’s stressful isn’t it? the thing about Covid is because of the testing we know, whereas a cold or flu, if a few people are sniffling around us we take no notice but we’ve all seen the horror of this virus on the news so when someone close tests positive we are scared, hope your son has a swift recovery Running gives us space in our heads xx
Stay safe Sola, and stay sane by getting out for those runs.
I wont tell anyone about Jo going further than W6 said, but at least you aren't on the C25k forum, otherwise I know a certain Admin who would have something to say about that.
We took it very slow, she’s not at work and i pointed out it was a bit far but she just plodded on, i wouldn’t have put it on the C25k forum, i am someone who sticks to rules, it’s hard to hold her back though now she knows she can run Thank you Dexy, it’s probably only a matter of time, but while i’m well and working I will run when i can
Oh my - that must have been a shock, and after all this time too. Fingers crossed for staying infection free. I know the vaccine is largely keeping people out of hospital but a few people I know have been quite poorly with the virus despite being double jabbed.Thank goodness you were able to get out for a run and destress- you needed that!
It’s just such a lot of extra work, keeping everyone safe looking after the poorly people and daily testing for everyone else, paperwork is ridiculous, I too have known vaccinated people be quite poorly too and thank you, the run was needed
Oh dear sorry to hear about covid at your work and the stress that comes with it. Glad you and your friend got out for a run to clear your head and enjoy a bit of me-time with something that you enjoy. Take care
So sorry to hear this , but so pleased you have somewhere so pleasant to run(dont know where you are but it looks beautiful). Being outside destresses wonderfully wish I could run slow🏃♀️ some people seem to just float 🤣 stay safe and positive
A lovely run in stressful times... and a reminder to those who may doubt it, that this virus is still with us !Your work is incredible and it is so good that you are able to get our and use your runs to help lose the stress and strain of your labours..., for a short while at least... breathing space x
As far as I am concerned you had a perfect run... sights to see... chatting as you go...perfect pace, slow, steady and satisfying.
Thanks Floss, my time running is limited due to such long days but after tomorrow as long as no more staff get it I’m off tor 6 days, 😀 run days too on rested legs xx
Thank you, today we had 3 more staff and 2 of the people who live there, it’s hard when the phone rings and it’s a colleague to say they have a positive test, almost everyone i worked with last weekend now off
Thanks, my day off was great, although we are getting very tired so running was hard work but so worth it. We’ve been lucky so far, now the staff are scared and the residents, well they are amazing
I’m sorry Sola, that must have been hard news, and after all this time. Fingers crossed all our vaccinations are doing their thing. Hope the run calmed your mind a little. Take care x
Thank you, we have our fingers crossed every day as we get up and test, then go to work and test other people and answer the phone just hoping it’s not another member of staff with it, thiss could go on a bit as we had 3 new staff go down with it yesterday but we keep smiling even if our laughter is a little hysterical
Oh gawd, that’s intense. I keep hearing stories of groups of people in various situs getting one case amongst them and everyone else remains ok. Including my parents who picked up my niece and nephew from school a few weeks back. That night the kids tested positive 😟 but, thank god, my parents stayed negative over a week. Fingers crossed this continues to be the trend over the nation!
Ouch. 😵💫 Not knowing has its own strains too! In my view everyone working in care needs a hero medal AND a pay raise. It’s been a terrible long haul and not over yet. Fingers crossed for all of you. 💕
At least I heard late Friday that one night staff will be back tonight which is brilliant, but sadly my coughing “it’s only a cold” boss has tested positive, and that’s the one person I have most contact with because we share our office, just me and her in a very small office with the door shut and whipping our masks off to drink tea lol lol lol 😂 I’m going for a run this morning whether my legs want to or not just in case Have a great day
Every day one or 2 more staff go down with it, I’m on leave now so will only go in if it gets desperate, I’m treating each day off as a single day in case i have to cut my leave short
