Last Saturday Jo and I ran 10k we were both off work and we jeffed a lot of it, the first and last kilometre were along a narrow rutted muddy track and not a lot of that was run. We decided to find somewhere on the other side of the river where the path is better for running on.
Fast forward to today, I’m lucky enough to have the weekend off but Jo was working til 3 so the plan was to run at 3.30
I woke at 4 and remembered I had forgotten to send a very important email yesterday so that was the end of my nights sleep.
To the run, Jo is faster than me so we agreed to run our own run and meet up at the end, Jo went off faster, I kept it really slow because since I’ve had a cold that goes on and on I’m getting fed up of walking some of it, the intention today was to run the whole lot, it’s gloomy and I start to wonder if we’ll get back before dark! It’s quiet, oh my music has stopped that’s why, keep going, Jo isn’t that far in front so I push a little bit, not a lot just a little faster, this feels good and coming up to 2.5k time to turn, the path is gravel and slower going than the smooth park pathway but a lovely tree lined pathway.
We were chatting when we realised I wasn’t lagging behind, came to 4k and Jo went a bit faster, I stayed fairly steady, I love running and chatting but running as it got dark in the silence was peaceful, I could see Jo had stopped and clipped the lead on her dog, glanced at my watch, 4.96k so push for a faster finish and 5k run 😀
As we crossed the road back to our cars I realised that’s the first 5k completely run with no walking breaks for a month or more since I had first the flu jab that knocked me flat then the booster jab that wiped me out and then a cold that floored me. So I’m really happy.
Last Saturday 10k Sunday 5k Tuesday 5k Thursday 2.83 k and today 5k this amount of being out and moving has got to be good for us
Have a great weekend all
