First run after Covid (the 3rd time): a deliciously drizzly, cloudy run

Mightily proud that I managed to adhere to my plan and get out there today, for a first little run after recovering from Covid.

I ran for 21 minutes, including 4 min warmup walk and 2 min cool down walk.

I chose NRC 15 min Head Starts, which was perfectly timed.

I took the nearest route from my house, a farmyard track and yes this involved a hill. It’s an out-and-back route, which right after the warmup walk starts on its uphill trajectory, reaching a farmhouse at the top of the hill, at wich the farmyard track turns into trails. At that point I normally turn off onto the trails that take me to forests, streams and fields.

But today, my aim for this first come-back run was just to run up the hill and run back down.

Also I put my jeffing timer to 5 minutes running, 1 minute walking, providing me with two 1 minute walking breaks in the 15 minutes of running.

On stepping out the door, a light rain started, not enough to get wet but enough to provide a lovely refreshing drizzle on my face and arms.

It felt good running again, legs and knees felt fine. My back surprisingly strong and pain free. And my aerobic fitness also held up.

I could tell I was panting a bit more than pre-Covid, but I certainly felt I could have run longer, or could have skipped my walking breaks. And that is always a good sign.

Once back, stretched, showered, and watered (and protein-smoothied) , then I could suddenly feel the exhaustion in my legs. And during my stretches, I could feel a tighter tightness in my glutes and hamstrings.

So a good start to my recovery after another bout of Covid.

Happy running, everyone!

(Pic: stepping out of the house this - actually lovely - drizzly weather greeted me. Not too hot or too sunny, but not too wet or too dreary, just a deliciously, drizzly, cloudy weather)

Well done, and glad to hear you’re on your way to recovery. Yes 15 mins sounds ideal after Covid to get back in again. Your legs will be weary after running up hills . Have a nice rest day off 🤗👏

15 minutes is my favourite comeback run length too-good choice! Great run for you and really glad you’re back ❤️

Are you aiming for the July playlist badge by any chance? Who doesn’t love a bit of virtual bling? 🏅😂❤️

July playlist: I think that’s where I found this run, but not sure if I am going for the badge. The green ticks tell me I have already run 4 of them before July and the ones still needing a tick are all longer, and thus a bit too much for me at the moment. We’ll see.

The one thing I’m missing from the NRC app is a proper search function for all runs.

The lack of decent search function is an absolute pain!

I’d also run a fair few before but not recently-it was quite comforting to do them again! We won’t mention “ how fartlek can you go” though. That was horrible!
