Running towards your goals (NRC)

This is a great motivational 40 minute NRC run with Headspace co founder Andy Puddicombe.

I'm a huge fan of Andy and also used his Headspace app previously.

It was basically a steady recovery run at a comfortable pace .

It was pleasantly warm at around 10 degrees when I went out just after 8:00

So shorts and t-shirt were just right .

I knew this run would be just over 5k for me , infact 5.17 according to NRC so tried to keep at a pace that would achieve that, no issues on the run , just a pleasant 5k plod along my usual route

Back home , stretches and porridge done and now a quick shower before a late start for work .

Happy running! 😁

Great start to the morning for you - I'm a fan of Andy Puddicombe too. It's a tad warm for my taste though - I may have to follow your lead and get some shorts 😲.I'm a bit concerned at your attitude towards your porridge though - surely it deserves better than simply being "done"?! Porridge is my favourite meal of the day, food of the gods, to be savoured and lingered over, piled way too high with lots of yummy fruits, and nuts...and seeds.....πŸ˜‹

Yes, I like Andy !And shorts were perfect this morning 😁

And you are right ! Apologies!!!

Poridge absolutely deserves more credit, I was in a rush finishing my post but the porridge was savoured as always 😁

Great run for you today Ian, well done πŸ˜€ πŸ‘.This morning I ran my 23rd 10K in preparation for the London Vitality Virtual 10,000 in early May, also, I sent my 5K split time to my home parkrun website for running my 96th (not) parkrun.

I love NRC. At the moment as I am coming back from covid, I am doing the time based ones, 10 minutes, 14 minutes etc. I would love them to do a marathon plan...

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Couchpotato2

Yes, I have been doing a lot with NRC Lately (but reluctant to say I'm on a plan 😁)And yes, I guess the time based runs are perfect for a recovery plan πŸ‘

Actually I dont like fixed plans... I like sort of rough plans or more like mini goals. I think what I'd want is a super long podcast from them more than a plan

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Couchpotato2

Yes, I think a fixed plan can give too much pressure, Although I did enjoy C25K

The only plan I'm admitting to at the moment is a plan to do the next run 😁

Yes I really enjoyed c25k but after that any plan I tried, I moaned. I think it's the only area of my life that I dont want a plan! I braved it and trained for the marathon sans plan.

I love the whole running with headspace series… I was listening to one on the run I didn’t even remember the second half of🀣. I haven’t done a guided run for a while, but now I quite fancy this one again today.. thanks.

Well done Ian, it sounds like just the right run for you today - we could all use a little bit more headspace. It’s def getting warmer isn’t it, I might let the world see my very white arms on Friday! I draw the line at the legs though. 😊

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Frenc

I definitely need more headspace , I can never switch off 😐Oh I've long since given up worrying about my white arms AND legs 😁

There usually all red anyway by the time I get back 😁

I did the same Nike run yesterday morning too! I was looking for something new as I’ve listened to all the 5k ones. I decided to pick a time based one instead and ran for a little bit longer than my planned 5k. Definitely some food for thought in regards to how to achieve your goals.
