Nice run out this sunny morning, with my new run buddy, my husband! He wanted to know what all the fuss was about and agreed to a gentle "walk/jog" out with me. Now this was going to be interesting..
My husband is/was a good runner but his fitness is not what it used to be, what with sport (watching!) and work and life getting in the way...ahhh... ๐
Heading out without my headphones and a playlist lined up was so strange but I thought we should make this a sociable run so ๐ ๐He did well! But we did stop several times for walk breaks as I was afraid of wearing him out ๐คชand I think I bore the pants off him with my frequent "you see, that's why the C25K plan works, it stops you racing off and running out of puff, it's a structured programme you see" and "ah another break...hmm..you see on C25K we're all trained not to stop and I really think that's the key to increasing your running frequency and distance...bla bla" My darling hubs does love to race off on a sprint then when I catch up with him with plenty of energy to keep going, he is slowing.. "we're like the hare and the tortoise!" I said as I paced up our final incline loving life, loving running ..and then waiting for him at the top of the road..lol
We did have a good outing, he said he really enjoyed being out..probably not so much listening to me espouse the wonders of the C25K programme ๐and it was fun to be out running with him, instead of on my own. Not sure when we will see a repeat run but you never know! I am hoping I may have helped kickstart his new year health kick ๐
One thing I do know, stopping during a run is VASTLY overrated. I haven't done it for so long, it felt so weird today when we stopped for breaks..I really wanted to keep going and that was a revelation. It's not just mind over matter keeping going now, I really do want to keep going and I CAN.
I let hubs walk home at the 3k mark and I powered on round our local park for another 3km, taking my total up to just over 6km I think. 2 days on the trot, I'd better have a day off tomorrow!
