Ah... the Gremlins got me (again) this morning ππ so I reasoned with myself and plotted an early afternoon run on one of my quieter routes to avoid all the lockdown walkers. Sat at my desk at home working til 2pm, wondering if Iβd ever get away from the tyranny of emails or even if Iβd make myself get out there. Sat in my running kit all day ππ Ah..!! I eventually headed out after the usual dithering (!!)
Well, I was on form from the start π No faffing with devices, sorted everything before setting off. My new extended 70βs playlist locked and headphones charged, game on. I wanted a faster pace today and I got it!! Big 5k PB (33mins) and I felt good at the 5k, then 6k mark so with Peter44βs words popping into my head just after 6k buzzed on my Garmin β7k is just a nice comfortable distance for us nowβ , I pressed on to 7.1km. Thanks Peter44 ππ Job done and happy with that β Todayβs run was a belter πͺπΌπͺπΌ I felt so good and strong and didnβt struggle on any inclines or hills π³ wow, think that is progress!

Your really ploughing through these runs now, and a very fast pace π₯΅ you'll be doing a sub 30 min 5k soon! βΊ and a run isn't a run, without a bit of faffing first π€£ what are we like eh, comfortable 7k's now!!! π€£ our bodies must be getting used to this running malarky! πͺπ¦βΊ
Thanks π Iβm glad my pace is improving, I could feel it too but in a pleasing way rather than a βIβm going to expireβ early C25K days way ππ I am aiming to knock time off my 5k each week but I know itβs going to get harder! Runner friend of mine said I should look at doing intervals?! Eek...
I'm quite happy, plodding along, my pace is a bit faster, but happy just increasing the distances, slowly, and as i've got alot of time, at the moment, prefer to stay out longer.
Yay!that's a great run and an excellent 5k too πͺπ» well done R4UL!πππ I think the afternoon runs are likely to be a bit safer at the minute, morning are super icey and dangerous π₯Ά
πthanks.. felt like I might be losing my mojo when the gremlins got me this morning so glad to have saved it with an afternoon run. When are you out for your first run post-isolation? Hope you are feeling better and not too whacked from your ordeal x
Iβm allowed out tomorrow! Havenβt ran for 4-5 days - been so tired so hoping I feel upto it - the excitement of being let out finally will spur me on. Will be so mad if itβs ice and snow and I canβt go out!!
Congratulations on your PB - there is so much I recognise in this!!! The amount of times I get up, put my running gear on and find myself still pouring over emails at 2pm having not moved an inch π€¦π»ββοΈπ€¦π»ββοΈπ€¦π»ββοΈ..........
Brilliant! Well done. Funny how the best can emerge from the not-best start/ lead-up.
Today I reset my device βstart delayβ to 30 seconds (instead of 15), and it made a huge difference to (the sense of) faffing. Had time to spare, to gather my focus and set my mind. Interesting to read how you just sidestepped the faff! On fire or what?
Now weβre regular runners ππ itβs all about making the tweaks now to set up a run for optimum enjoyment and less faff!! I manage it sometimes ha ha π
