The gremlins were at me this morning, not even Coach Dyer got a look in.. I wasnβt able to shake them off for a good hour π but I finally made it out the door at 10am. Plan was for a cheeky 5km. Within the first 2km, I was doing the usual revisions in my head and wondering if a 3km would be acceptable π€ (no). One of the many things Iβve learnt through C25K is not to give up, not to stop and keep going.. just slow down. It works! I slowed a bit after the dreaded under rail track ramp down and up and pressed on.. My new 80s pop playlist really giving me energy.. I just love the fun with a new playlist of wondering whatβs coming next...
I decided to carry on my usual route to see if I could do a loop route and not have to retrace my steps. All was going well until I realised Iβd be having a mini tour of the local industrial estate and not quite the scenic route ππ but on the plus side, there was no one about except for a lone cyclist so that was a win and no extending dog leads or kids on scooters to navigate ππ» I rejoined my usual route home and looked at my Garmin... which was dead. π³Argh!! Totally out of juice, not sure how far Iβd come.. Iβd have to get my phone out of my sports belt to check Strava while running... ugh.. managed it and I was pleasantly surprised, heading for 6km.. No energy for any final sprints, 6km done and happy with that. Christmas excess run off (well, some of it lol) and feeling energised and happy to be out in the fresh air doing what I love best, RUNNING!!
Happy Boxing Day everyone. Hope the running is good where you are π¦π¦

Well done on getting out and nailing another 6km. ππ»π¦I did a treadmill 5k this morning- no fun but did the job-looking forward to some fresh air and longer runs π
Thanks, Yes I was glad to get out. Being outside is so much of the experience for me with running so I feel your pain with the enforced treadmill time!! But good you got another 5k done and youβre keeping up your fitness πͺπΌπ¦
Well done - overcoming all the obstacles (ππΏπΉ) and then finding a route without obstacles (if less than scenic)! 6k is a great distance. Iβve been exploring things like mapometer today, just to see where we could go at different distances... and the Lee Valley is now coming into running range. Thatβs added motivation!!! π
Yay!!! Well done Runforurlife ...the gremlins were at me this morning too and they rolled me back over when I thought about getting up at 5:55am when I woke up and my first thought was running...I havenβt run since Monday so that a long time for me!!! Blummin Christmas just takes over..the Christmas Eve run I wanted to do did t happen, I was meeting myself coming backwards all day!! I even had my special takeaway supper and zoom meeting with friends in my running kit as Iβd been in it all day just incase I could snatch a quick run...but it just didnβt happen...then yesterday was yesterday and the day ran away with me instead of the other way round!! π€£ but youβve inspired me to get out of the door later...Iβve just been on a lovely, cold 4k walk with hubby but I am def getting that run in and everything back to normal later today ππ»ππ» Thanks for your post π
Ah I am so glad Iβve been able to give some inspiration!!! Go for your run, you just know it makes sense πͺπΌ I honestly didnβt think Iβd do it today but so glad I did. You never regret a run π Hope you had a good run!!
Well done, you got out in the end! So a cheeky 6k in 40mins π₯΅ what are you like, that's a pretty good pace! βΊAlthough it was really nice, running yesterday, i could have done with a run of all yesterdays food, today π€£ might go for a walk instead.
Anyway, you seem to be smashing most of your runs now, know what you mean about not stopping, just cant be done, although it's nice to just go out, with no special distance/time, just see how it goes! π
Thanks π With the Garmin fail and scrabbling for my phone to check Strava, I was all over the place and thought Iβd be losing pace but maybe not. I have so many runs that keep surprising me and I suppose thatβs part of the fun! After yesterdayβs Christmas excesses, I was glad to get out and Iβm planning another run tomorrow because.. well, thatβs what we do isnβt it when weβre loving our running ππ Hope you enjoyed your walk ππ»
Well done you! I'm sat in my pants eating leftovers and drinking beers π€£π€£π€£ the knees not hurting today but maybe that's the booze π€£ may try a 5k in the morning π€π»
