LEJOG, reaching 100 miles, calculations and autumn leaves

100 miles!

๐Ÿ—บ Yes, LeJog team! Iโ€™ve run exactly 100 miles!!! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฃ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿฆต๐Ÿฅณ

๐Ÿงฎ So my calculator tells me I have now in 3 months run 11.44% of the route, which considering that my stretch target always was to get to my town at 333 miles (which in 12 months is 38%), means Iโ€™ll get there even without stretching. According to my newest average speed and distances I will now make it to mile 399 by the end of the journey, up from my original calculations at the time of starting LEJOG of 260 miles getting me to Worcester! So achieving 399 miles should get me to halfway between Preston and Lancaster!

โ›ต๏ธI need a new stretch target on my LEJOG journey! Maybe the Lake District?

๐Ÿ’ฏ But for now, and even at the for me formidable 100 miles, I am still in Devon ๐Ÿ˜!

๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‚But this morningโ€™s run was a tentative, slow and autumn leafy exploration of how my knees feel on a run. Verdict:

- ๐ŸŒ Even after some achy niggles in my knees on waking up, the run went fine, but I only dared a very slow pace

- ๐Ÿ““โœ๏ธI didnโ€™t dare to do my 5.0 route as indicated on JuJuโ€™s Magic Plan, as this would have entailed a long mile on hard surfaces, so I count this as run 1.5 of JuJuโ€™s MP. Thus I added another instruction to my personal rule book ๐Ÿ“–, โ€œstay on the week of the plan until you have run all the distances, no matter how many runs this takesโ€.

- ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธIโ€™m still less fit than I was before I took that 5 day break to focus on my knees, but I can run the distances I usually run!

- ๐Ÿ ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ‚๐ŸƒAnd, most of all the autumn leaves and autumn colours were beautiful.

๐Ÿ“† And I am also still focussing on knees. Thanks to this forum, Iโ€™ll follow the advice and in addition to the usual workouts on โ€˜un-runโ€™ days, I will do knee-focussed short exercises twice a week on days of my choice.

๐Ÿง˜๐ŸปI did one today, Jennaโ€™s Stretch Pilates (20m) Pilates Knee Rehab.

๐ŸงŽ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธHowever, im slightly dubious of its efficacy, as it involves quite a bit of kneeling and stretching in ways I donโ€™t dare do. So although I like how it adds foam roller work to Pilates movements, I might throw it out of my list as anything kneeling or 180 degree bending of knees is really out of the question for me.

๐Ÿ‘๐ŸฝSo fab day today, even better as it is one of my annual leave days, so pretty happy today!

Wow I'm impressed with your calculations ๐Ÿ˜Š and target setting. I'm on LeJoG 7 and I've not set myself any targets. I'm using my total daily steps, which was going well until the dog hurt his paw and its on short walk for a week.

Have you tried Yoga with Adriene for Sensitive Knees?

Yes, me too ๐Ÿงฎ๐Ÿง๐Ÿคฏ

Sorry to hear about your dog being on the IC, normally itโ€™s just us runners.

I liked Adrienneโ€™s Yoga session for sensitive knees, but with one exception: The downward dog related movements are always difficult for me. But I do like the meditative nature of yoga. Here was my write-up of her session:
