Planning for deliciously slow 5k runs

๐Ÿ“Just started Week 3 of JuJuโ€™s plan. I always have to jumble up the order of my runs, as due to work commitments and my speed, I need to ensure the longest run is on a weekend and the 5k is on a day where I can find 90min either first thing or lunchtime. This usually changes from week to week depending on meetings and availability of other colleagues.

๐Ÿ•ฐFinding the time to run would of course all be easier if I werenโ€™t a connoisseur of the ultra-slow run. Finding 30min in the day and another 30 to shower would be easier than having to make way - as I currently do - for a diary slot of a 5k & shower 90 min total.

๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒณBut Iโ€™m enjoying running on my wooded trails so much. Planning out each week by week ... who am I kidding, I love planning, so planning in my runs into my work schedule is rather a nice task. ๐Ÿ—’

๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธAnd this morning, I had the opportunity to start work a bit later and indulge in one of my delightful and deliciously slow 5k runs!

๐ŸŒCold and clear skies, I had put on 2 layers of long sleeved tops, my sleeveless hoodie, and a scarf๐Ÿงฃ , gloves ๐Ÿงค, 2 layered socks ๐Ÿงฆ and my V1 vest.

๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‚And it was a great run. (Mind you, never in terms of speed). But I canโ€™t believe that a 5k run is so easily done now. Itโ€™s so delightful to fall into a rhythm, both rhythm of my feet and then rhythm of the music. Saying โ€˜helloโ€˜ and โ€˜good morningโ€™ to the few dog walkers and runners. Enjoying the fog, the crispness of the air, the crunching of the leaves, as well as the squelching of some muddy sections.

๐ŸŽ„A beautiful 5k run on the first day of December! Happy running everyone!

That sounds like a lovely run to me CBDB ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Pace is all well and good but itโ€™s not (or shouldnโ€™t be) the goal of most runs. Running slower gives us time to think, to look at the world around us and just to be grateful for what we have๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

That sounded a great run. Iโ€™m loving the description of running through the leaves in the crisp cold morning air.....like you I seem to enjoy and appreciate being outdoors in the fresh air more now, since Iโ€™ve started running. You prove it is possible to find time to run even if you have a busy schedule, after all there are 24 hours in a day ๐Ÿ‘

Yes! And during lockdown, it had allowed me to feel still connected to the real world. I just feel fortunate that we didnโ€™t have restrictions like in France, where you had only a 1km circumference allowance. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
