Hello my lovely running friends...long time since I posted...I hope you are all doing well, I am still here, as you know, answering posts, reading all your posts and generally lurking...
For the last 2-3 weeks my right knee has been aching at the back, not during a run but afterwards, infact the only time it hasn’t ached or hurt is when I’m running, so I’ve just carried on and pretended nothing’s really happening...oh ohhhhh..not a good idea...I ran on Tuesday, that was ok, no different to any other run lately so that made yesterday a rest day but I really wanted to run...really really wanted to run, just a short one..so I set off, about 6pm over to the park and decided I’d just do Laura’s speed podcast...I headed across to the park to warm up but when I got on the path where the loose stones are my left foot slipped on a stone which meant my achy right knee had to save me from falling which it did, but only just, the pain at the back of my knee was horrendous, especially on the outside...I couldn’t put any weight on it at first, I started limping and trying to shake away the pain but my knee was having none of it...I sat on the wall and tried to massage away the pain which worked a little bit..I stood up again and limped home, tried a little run on it but could not manage it...however much I had pretended nothing was wrong my knee was telling me there was...so when I got home I messaged my physio friend who asked a few questions and said that it sounds like my cartilage is stressed due to trying to protect the knee while I’ve been running so this was inevitable! So it’s ice and ibuprofen for me until next week...not a happy bunny, I can’t imagine not running for a whole week but I suppose it could’ve been worse if my knee hadn’t brought me to an abrupt halt yesterday!
Stay safe everyone and if you have a niggle or a pain, take an extra rest day and don’t ignore it....don’t be like me!!! 😫🙄

Thank you roseabi ..I’m really fed up...it’s feeling very tender but at least I can walk on it, I have to keep it moving so it doesn’t seize up so it’s just dog walks for me for now ☹️ X
Aw that’s an awful shame Mummycav. You take care of you and we look forward to hearing your next happier instalment when you are fit as a flea again. Hopefully soonest when safe to do so.
Hopefully you won't be here too long, I hope it feels better very soon with rest and ice. Hug from me, go gently on those dog walks. Good to have a friend who is a physio. 🌹🌻💐🌺xxx
No, not at all Bluebirdrunner ...I’m completely fed up...I hope I’m not here long either, we’ll have to see how it feels in a few days, blummin knees!!?! I will be sticking to the flat as hills hurt and going down the stairs this morning is a bit wobbly! My right leg is so strong but unfortunately the knee has a weak spot..thank you for your lovely hug 🤗😘❤️ xxx
Oh no poor you, it is so easy to ignore niggles. Make sure you take plenty rest - dont run next week unless completely sorted otherwise you may be even longer in IC. take care 🤗
Thanks MikeJones68 ...I’ve got everything crossed, this isn’t the best seat I’ve ever sat on..some good company on here though but still, I’d rather be outside dragging my sorry carcass round the streets!! 🤣 ☹️ x
Thank you Fabulous450 ..not the beat thing to do is it?! Ignorant determination is what I’ve been running with for the last couple of weeks, thinking that one more won’t hurt!! Silly me?! But I am a runner not a couch dweller so I won’t be here long...I will def post when I’m back out there x
Such a pity regarding your knee, so sorry about that, I just hope that you can get back to running in around a week, just go for a few short walks, hopefully it will heal soon.
So sorry to hear that Mummycav- I hope you’re on the mend soon! But don’t rush it otherwise you know you’ll be lurking from the IC much longer than you want to be!
Well I’m coming back to join you for a week or so - I seem to have tweaked my Achilles. Have been ignoring the signs but it’s not going away. What a roundabout this is.
Oh flip!! It certainly is...but you’ve done exactly what I did and ignored it, we both know that being in denial doesn’t work...we should just face it and rest...but, as running addicts, that’s not as easy as it sounds!!! Oh well, it’s not forever and I’m in good company xx
Haha thanks Hidden ...I didn’t quite last a week, I had a Little outing on Sunday with a run/walk and then again today...feeling a little discomfort but my physio friend says not to worry too much about that...thank you x
You can squeeze in between Bluebirdrunner and me, and take as long as you need - but don't stay here for too long!🤗 There, we've got you in a hug sandwich 😊
As you're creeping off it I'm perched on the edge!! I'm hoping a few days rest and some strengthening exercises will do me some good and I might even follow your example of some run /walks. Fingers crossed you keep moving in the right direction
