First time a injury has stopped me.

I ran my 10 k about 6 weeks ago, since I have been rubbish, only able to do one reasonable 5k out of 3.

However two weeks ago, getting out of my car, something happened to my knee.

Since I have tried running, but I have decided to rest for a week and see a chiropractor.

Oh how I’m missing my run this morning, but I feel carrying on with an injury is silly.

I have seen other people here having injuries, it’s so hard. I’m hoping, my knee is just twisted and can be sorted. But your mind plays tricks on you and I think is this it. My mother had badly swollen knees because of sport, hers was hockey and cycling. Please don’t let me be in her situation.

I just need to moan.

Poor you. Glad you are seeing someone to find out the cause. Don't dwell on what happened to your mother, I think understanding and reaction to sports injuries have changed massively over the years. I was told as a teenager if I didn't stop skiing I wouldn't be walking by my 40s. I continue to ski steep and fast, I walk, cycle and for the last year have been running every other day. Where injuries were left in the past I do believe that in a lot of cases with remedial therapy and building up of supportive muscles round joints we can keep a actve for longer and avoid the pain and suffering our parents had to live with. Take care and happy running 🤗

Sorry to hear about your injury. I know how frustrating it can be but rest and full recovery now will be better in the long run (no pun intended). Get well soon.

Just had 3 months of issues with my knee, but after 4 blissfully smooth runs I hope it is behind me now. It would have been fixed more quickly if Covid-19 hadn’t closed down the physios. I won’t go into detail as your problem might be completely different to mine, but I went from having lots of soreness and pain with every run and between runs, to my present happier state by following a strength building and muscle lengthening regime and heat treatment (a hot water bottle!). Trouble with knee issues is that they can be “in your face “ all day, which piles on the pressure, but be optimistic. My solution involves hard work, and I had my doubts about a recovery, but the cure when it came was amazing! Stay strong !!🙂

You moan! It is so discouraging to be injured. I've just got over an injury and you will too! Good luck, at least you have an appointment and hopefully this will be short-lived.
