Heehee! Thinks I... a mere 3.5k to do, I shall sprint like a gazelle, I shall be done in no time at all, see me leap and bound through the trees with the greatest of ease... Er, nope, it took me 30 minutes to grind it out, my breathing was all over the place, my hips and legs were complaining, the big hill which I cleverly planned into my route almost defeated me, gah! I think maybe I should have taken an extra rest day after doing my 7km on Monday but lesson learnt for next week. Anyway, it's done so onwards and upwards, think I'll save my 5km for Parkrun on Saturday and try to get a new pb. Good luck to everyone on the magic plan, now off to do some sodding planks! ๐
Week 3, Run 2 The "easy" one! : Heehee! Thinks... - Bridge to 10K
Week 3, Run 2 The "easy" one!
Is there no stopping you lol ? . Wonder woman springs to mind ๐ช๐โ
Well done debs, you got it done anyway. I know it was supposed to be "the easy one" but only a few short weeks ago, that 3.5k would have filled us with dread and awe. So easy to forget, eh
you did it, that's what counts - you are still wonder woman
Thanks, backintime - you're right of course. But at least if you're filled with dread and awe, you can be pleasantly surprised. When you get all cocky and expect it to be a breeze, it can bite you!
You still got it done though! I did the 5k after the 7k and my legs felt very fatigued during the 5k, I'm going to make Saturday my long run day to give me an extra day after the longer runs (I'd been giving myself an extra day before it). It's all a learning curve to us newbies!
Well done, Debs. A grind-it-out run is still a run and itโs still progress, however you look at it.
Well done debating, the great thing about the magic plan is that you can do parkrun as your 5k every week.
Well done... at least itโs another โ๏ธโ๏ธโ๏ธ... and what was your thinking that made inserting the big hill a โcleverโ idea?!!! If I had a clever idea regarding a big hill, it would be to run down it... ๐ x x
๐ Downhill is much more my usual preference! My thinking was that I often avoid this particular hill because I need to save my energy for later in the run. But I know going uphill is supposed to be brilliant for fitness, heart rate, etc. So thought I'd toughen up and just go for it! I have named this particular hill Harry, in honour of Harry Hill who grew up round here. It's a lot less fun than HH though!
I like your thinking!! Which hill was it...? If itโs a Bedgebury one, I can also curse its โHarry-nessโ next time Iโm passing through!!
But you absolutely did it. Funny how the ones we dread are never as bad and the ones we think will be easier catch us out. You post reminded me but I forgot to do my strength bits after my run tonight. Must try harder ๐
This made me smile ๐. I have runs like that where you legs just canโt work out how to run. Have never worked out why but they make the good runs feel even more fabulous. Hope PR went well for you. ๐
Thanks Wimborne! Yes, I think the meh runs really make you appreciate the good ones. Parkrun was good, much cooler than last week, felt so much nicer. But my hip is now playing up again so I have decided to have a total rest this week which is frustrating but probably the sensible thing to do. Hope all your runs are great ones this week! โบ
