A little run to celebrate- She’s home.

After 4 days at the vets and just over a kilo lighter the squirt’s back! Tired and very quiet, but happy to be home. Me too! Three different pills to take, twice a day, but tonight I watched her separate them all from very sticky chicken and rice and place them all on her feeding mat. Little bag.

Have had a sore throat and blocked nose for two days, but refuse to get sick, so decided to get out there today for some fresh air and a bit of a sweat and I feel so much better. Bedtime here now, electric blanket on and Oi! how did you get up there? That’s my side oh! OK just this once, budge up. Sweet dreams 🐶 🦴😴 X

Glad she's home. Was it pancreatitis?

If she's allowed, mine take pills in cheese with no problems - they would probably take rat poison as long as it were wrapped in cheese :D Even the cheap stuff, or laughing cow, or anything that squidges around a pill

😂😂 yes right o. The money it was pancreatitis, don’t think we’ve been feeding her a high fat diet, as our other dog might have the same? But she is a scavenger. I know what you mean about cheese, just have to open the compartment in the fridge and I can feel two pair of eyes boring in to my back.

My daughter’s little cat Roma loves cheese too( in fact all dairy though they aren’t supposed to have it) and she can hear a fridge opening at about half a mile away. She squawks and squawks until I give in. She’s such a gannet yet really tiny still. A year old yet only looks like a 6 month old kitten

Glad your baby is home ok now

Yes I only had 2 last year, then decided to rescue one and my daughter picked one too now she has moved away because her work moved her and I have all 4 cats. Result!!

Aaah glad she is back home Lexi. That made me laugh about picking out the pills, yes, little monkies!

Well done on your run..and belated Happy birthday wishes. Sorry I missed it.

I bet you are looking forward to your trip. Electric blankets!... 😰😊xxx

Thanks Bbr, she is pretty clever, (all mums say that I know 😂) Thank you for the birthday wishes, it was lovely to have a couple of wines, knowing that I’d been for a run earlier, what a change in me and who’d have thought a year ago running related presents would make me so happy! One of my pressies from my daughter is a beautifully bound travel diary and I can’t wait to start writing in it. 32 more sleeps until we leave! I’m beyond excited and really looking forward to leaving winter behind for a few weeks. 😎 Xx

I am so glad your little love bug is back home! Enjoy the snuggles 💕

Thanks Saska, she’s a lot skinnier, but looks very happy to be home, not sure our other dog is quite as happy as us, as she pinched his favourite toy - again! Kids eh? 🙂

Awwwww ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Bless her tiny little heart, I’m so pleased she’s home with you Lexi! 😀 I have a feeling she’ll be one spoilt little girl from now on. Mine is, and I have no problem admitting it. 😅

I have to disguise all pills in rolled up slices of salami or something really tasty. Like yours, my doggie is adept at separating good from evil! 😅😅

Glad you took care of yourself with a nice run. ❤️

Thanks Cheeky, she’s a lot quieter than she was, but it won’t last I’m sure, we’ll enjoy it while it does. She’s definitely getting spoilt for a few weeks anyway until we leave for our trip. My daughter is a teacher and won’t put up with her lip 😂 I did peanut butter with the pills this morning but Salami could work. 🐶

Oh bless. So good she’s home 💕. My dog can sniff out a pill in anything and had to resort to crushing them into his food. Good to hear you got out there today.

Thanks Wimborne, we’re so glad she’s home, as she was a real worry. They have amazing noses don’t they? I’ll have to get a bit more creative with hiding them. Glad I ran yesterday as its pouring and very strong winds today. 🙂

Thanks Buddy, its really great she’s back home. Phew! Her weight loss is quite dramatic, but we’ll definitely be cutting the treats back from now on as she was getting a little chubby. 🙂

Glad to hear the baby is back! Mine are awful with pills too- I have to crush them into soft cheese and they are still suspicious! Does she come running with you? My bichons love a jog! It’s a bit sad that their 3 inch legs go faster than mine!!

lexi6 profile image
lexi6Graduate10 in reply to Sweatylady

😂😂 thats so funny, they’re closer to the ground than us, so they should be faster 😄 but we have cadence (apparently). They have us humans worked out eh? Would love to bring her running with me she would run for miles, but our other dog, a Bichon cross might be a bit miffed. They are so different on walks away from each other. Hmmm! Ya got me thinking Sweaty

Thanks IP, so, so happy that one she’s home and recovering and two can get excited about our trip again to UK and Ireland. Did I say 32 more sleeps? 😀

So glad you’ve got your baby back. Ours has epilepsy, so on 4 pills a day - squashed into a bit of Brie, does the trick every time 😃 Mind you, he is a total gannet!

lexi6 profile image

Aaw! Sandi your poor boy. Brie eh? Love his taste and I think cheese is a recurrent theme here 🥰

Thanks grumpy, she’s on the mend and I’m hoping the wind and rain stops overnight, so she can get out for a little walk and I can have another run tomorrow. I’m (first time ever) tailwalking at parkrun this Saturday, so need another little sweat. 🤧

Re the pills my dad had 4 working cocker spaniels and when he had to worm them he used to get them to line up with their front paws along the edge of the old table and he’d cut cake into small squares. They were used to being fed in a certain order so he’d shout No. 1 and throw a piece of cake, No. 2 and so the same all along the row and they would just open their mouths and gulp, then he’d repeat with the pills and then repeat again with cake. Worked every time.

I don’t know if you’ve seen the video with the German Shepherds and the soda syphon? Well like that anyway

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Oh! That is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Never ever seen that video before. Your Dad and his dogs, I just love it limberlou. Thank you so much for the giggle.

Oh how positively adorable!! It's funny how they say dogs will eat anything but then they find the tiny pill in the mountain of food! Mine used to separate out all the green bits from the food and leave them in a pile!

lexi6 profile image
lexi6Graduate10

😂😂 thats so funny Pianism, just like kids! how do they know that green is good for them?

Love her she is so gorgeous 😍😍 I’m glad she is on the mend. My dog can also sniff out the tiniest of pills and leave them to one side in his bowl 😊😊

lexi6 profile image
lexi6Graduate10 in reply to Bridget007

Thanks Bridget, she’s still a little quiet, but definitely improving daily and boy! is our other dog enjoying the break. You have to wonder how they can sniff out and put aside teeny pills. Smart eh? 👍
