Home run celebration

I’ve been away running at different parkruns for the past 8 weeks doing some parkrun tourism with my son. But today I was back at my home parkrun and ran my 52nd parkrun. It was so lovely, when I crossed the finish line I was taken to one side. Even though I had done my 50th parkrun 2 weeks ago at an inaugural parkrun event, the core team at my home parkrun wanted to celebrate my 50th parkrun. And my Son was included. We had a lovely run and it was so nice to be back home. I’m going to stay here until Eastville parkrun on the 12th of October. Volunteering next week.

Oh just look at that, what a lovely thing to do for you both! Wishing you just as happy a time getting to 100! (Probably won't take long, you guys are doing so well)

Planning on trying for my 100 in 2020, and hopefully get volunteer 25 in 2020 also.

Oisin is at 22 now, so he will be going for his 50th next year.

Thanks for your warm wishes.

Lovely. Well done, that’s an achievement. Well done young damienair too, sounds like you’ve both been on a great Parkrun adventure 😊

Very well done - you are an inspiration. This shows how Parkrun is more than just about running but a sense of community too

Thank you. Yes it is a lovely way to get to know people and feel part of the community. My Son loves the post parkrun breakfasts with the other parkrunners. Volunteering is the best way to get to know others, and the after run chats 😀

I have only done 4 Parkruns post my C25k graduation. I’ll build up my runs numbers and await injury to volunteer - 🤞🏻 that won’t happen for a while.

I usually volunteer one in every 10 runs at parkrun.

What a lovely thing to do! You must have a really friendly team there.👍

Thanks JonathanP, yes it’s a great team. There are usually 100 to 120 regular parkrunners each week and volunteers are alway part of the regular runners, we take turns volunteering every 5-10 Parkruns. So it’s got a real community feel.

That’s great of your home club to celebrate your 50th Damien. So lovely to share it with your son too. Not long till he gets his 25th T-shirt!

damienair profile image
damienairAdministrator in reply to Dexy5

He is too young to volunteer yet. So he will have to wait for his 50th t shirt. He should get that next summer. It will be great running with him , both of us in red 50 t shirts 😀

Sorry I thought juniors got their T-shirt at 25 but I’m wrong, he’ll already have the white 10. Silly me .

Oh yeah, he was proudly wearing his 10 t shirt on Saturday.
