Birthday celebration run (not my birthday!)

For the last couple of months I have mostly run with the dog, several times a week but only 3-4K. So I was beginning to wonder if I would ever manage to increase my distance and stamina again! I needed a bit of incentive and unknowingly Maddee_6333 gave me just the motivation I needed! She invited folk to join her in a 5k to celebrate her birthday. Yesterday was rather hectic so went today instead. The weather has been cooler recently which both me, and the dog prefer. We set off in dry conditions, cool with a nice breeze - just right. But 10 minutes into the run it began to rain, not just a drizzle but torrential! We sheltered under some trees for a little while (see photo) and Mr Squiggs explored an interesting hole under the roots of one tree! The shower passed over so off we went again past the cows, calves oh and Mr Bull wandering around on the common grazings. Past people walking on the beach, past a fishing boat and tourist camper vans down to the shore. I was enjoying myself. The reverse route includes going back up 'the hill' but even that was ok today. So back home and 5.56k done, pleased with the pace - I felt good.

What a wonderful forum this is, everyone is so supportive and encouraging 😊 Thanks everyone 👍

Awwww, Thank you for my birthday run! I must try harder to motivate people in future if this is the result 😀 Glad you had a tree to shelter under, and pretty things to look at en route.

Yes, there are lots of things to look at. The Canicross kit is working brilliantly. I wore my speedy waist belt for seven and a half hours up the mountains the other Saturday - really comfortable!

They really are, I've managed to drive home in mine after a run and only realised I've still got it on when I've gone to change out of my running gear!

Sounds like a lovely run - despite the rain! Just managed to dodge the showers so far. 🌧😕

Yes, thank you I was pleased to do a slightly longer run (even if it was only a kilometre more!). I don't really mind running in the rain but that downpour was just a bit too much! Even the dog kept stopping to have a good shake!
