A bit of an unpromising start this morning. We had to share the local park with a fairground and stalls and vehicles coming in and out. The route had had to be changed too, so all a bit unfamiliar. I thought, in my usual stoical fashion, just jog around and it is what it is!
However I thought of Cheekychipmunks doing her slightly belated celebration run at the same time and my legs just clicked into gear. Get a grip they said; I had to put in an effort. So I decided that I had to push on, once I had cleared a way through the crowded start. It felt great!! lots of overtaking and little cameos being played out as I went round. I passed a lady with a very young girl, pointing out targets for the youngster to catch and overtake! At the end, a lady I had overtaken a while back came steaming up to overtake me near the line. She apologised as we waited for our tags and thanked me for "pulling her around the last section". She will be in my sights next time π. Net result, a new Garmin PB of 31:20 which is a 33 second improvement. It was just a really nice run with a comfortable stride, not quite negative splits but near enough; a nice way to mark a milestone. Thanks CC for the virtual support and hope that you had a good run tooππ

Yay Beachcomber66. Sometimes itβs nice to do a different course to ring the changes. Congratulations on your graduation Runniversary. I bet you didnβt run that far in 30 minutes a year ago.
Thanks Dexy5. 5k this time last year was 36:57, my first garmin effort which a running friend described as βnot terribleβπ. Time for a post run cup of coffee and a triple chocolate brownie before 36:57 appeared on the watch today! As usual Park run time is different, but still 3 Park runs to date and they keep getting quicker, so I must be pushing it a bit more; blame Tasha for pushing me around last time. ππ
Itβs always nice to have a target - so look out for Tasha next time. π€£π€£
We had a lovely breakfast with Mr and Mrs Coddfish today , and discussed our tourist parkrun together on the way to Twickenham next week. It will be an early morning but thereβs no stopping us
She was 19 seconds ahead according to the park run table; just toying with me π. These VRB meet ups are really good. A friend of ours wants me to take her to a Park Run before she does the Great North Run. She is amazing! 70 years old, started running after I did, can leg press 90 kilos! She has never run with others and thinks a Park Run will be good prep for the cast of 1000s event further oop north! She runs very slowly, does a bit of jeffing....but just keeps going!!πͺ
Thatβs brilliant beachcomber, at first I thought you meant run parkrun just before the Great North. Glad to see I read it wrong. An amazing lady though.
Hi Tasha, I didnβt see you either or I would have said helloπ; were you heavily disguised in a top with TASHA written on it? I see from the table that you finished a bit ahead of me (no surprise there!!). I forgot all about the free eggs. I headed off for a coffee and a well done tea cake to replace lost calories. A nice run though. I think Park Runs are good for me!ππ
Oooh coffee and tea cake! Nice! No I was more hidden today with a regular vest on π€£ Glad youβre enjoying parkrun. No doubt Iβll see you there soon! Happy anniversary too!
Woohoo, well done BC! And youβre very welcome - any excuse to do a virtual run with a VRB! πββοΈππ
Yours sounded brilliant! And a fabulous PB to boot. You da man! π
I didnβt post about mine. I post a LOT and I need to pick and choose to save you guys the boredom of my long posts (oops, and replies!) But it was fun being back running with MJ again. A temporary blip at the start as I couldnβt get the app to start - turns out you have to press a smiley face to indicate your mood before you set off! I jogged the 5 minute warmup and cooldown and jogged/ran the intervals in between. That got me to 4k or so, so I jogged the final 1k in silence after MJ had signed off. Oh heβs so lovely and polite! β€οΈ Iβm going to run with him regularly I think. π
Onwards to our 2nd year! ππββοΈππ
The lovely Laura was with me, but only in my iPhone! Headphones had gone missing so, despite a frantic last minute search, I couldnβt listen to her. We enjoy your posts, and having the opportunity to have a dig for trying to bamboozle is with βadded distance β spells.. you just post away! Nice bit of nostalgia to end our first graduate year and much to look forward to in the next 12 months.
Happy running CC and thanks for keeping me companyππ
