Hello Everyone. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

Up and out fields and woodland copse was very slippy underfoot so had to change my planned route but feel better for getting it done! Plus this horse needs a trim 😂
Horses in field one white horse has a shaggy long fringe
On this grey, drizzly morning I went to Wanstead Flats parkrun. Whilst it lives up to its name, it’s all on muddy grass and trails. Thanks to the fact I didn’t bring trail shoes, I kept slipping 😅
Had to take some walking breaks on the muddier sections, and my calves were killing me from K3 on, but I carried on.
Good morning Damien, no parkrun for me today but instead I got the bus into Glasgow which is about 18 kilometres from where I live and ran a short 3K along the River Clyde Walkway, I have walked there many times and I have seen many runners so I thought I'd go a run there after someone at parkrun a few weeks ago told me it was one of her favourite runs, I am sure the river Liffey in Dublin has also got a walkway along the side where many walkers, runners and cyclists go for their exercise, I saw about 40 other runners and many cyclists as well, it was a lovely sunny morning hence all those runners and cyclists.
That sounds lovely Al. Well done on your run. Yes the river Liffey has some lovely spots along its banks for running and cycling. There are also a couple of parkruns along its banks. Have a lovely weekend.
Before running I used to cycle from where I live in Cumbernauld which is 14 miles from Glasgow to where I ran today, however, with all the bends on the cycle path it was a lot more than 14 miles, only a few minor roads, then along the Forth and Clyde canal toe path, then down the Kevin walkway to meet up with the Clyde Walkway where I was today, I estimate it could be a round bike ride of 50 miles altogether, in those days if I went the other direction, again cycling along off road routes I could bike ride as far as Balloch near Loch Lomond but I never went just as far as that, I once read that Bristol and Glasgow had the best off road routes in the United Kingdom for cycling.
I struggled round my 247th parkrun. I am determined to collect my 250 shirt whilst I am still able to do so, but it’s getting harder and harder all the time. Even my Garmin time was 1 hour 12 minutes; and I think it will be an interesting decline over the next 3 based on current trajectory. But I am still here and still doing it. Despite a myriad of consequences from the treatment for my metastatic cancer. One run, or one walk at a time.
Oh my goodness, that just puts everything into perspective doesn't it? Thank you and so well done on completing that parkrun....I'm sure everyone here will be cheering you on for the next few and waving pom poms as you get to 250 parkruns
Very well done. I have absolutely no comprehension whatsoever of the effort required to do what you’re doing. You’re so brave. Well done for your passion and dedication, I know you’ll accomplish this goal of getting to 250th parkrun.
You already have a gold medal for courage and determination Coddfish. You are simply amazing. We want to see you in your 250 shirt too, but only because that is what you want for yourself. Support. but no pressure 🙂🏆
Very well done @coddfish, we know what you are dealing with at the moment and it’s incredible that you doing this. With your determination there is no doubt you will get that 250 shirt.
Sorry we weren’t there to celebrate with you today but I am on a mission to take UTS away a bit as May will be mainly Southsea.
This morning I drove to Trim parkrun. It is just a 15 minute drive away from my home. Beautiful morning, cold but dry and bright. One of the oldest Norman castles can be seen from the course as well as an old Abbey. The Norman castle was used in the filming of Braveheart and was both York Castle and the Tower of London in the movie. My PB on this course was 30:16. It’s a 2 lap course along a river and in a park known locally as the Porch Fields. I started out stronger than planned and found myself in a little group of fellow runners. I was soon moving up through the group and continued on. I felt very comfortable and continued to run at the pace. I was shocked when I crossed the finish line. I finished in 19th place in a time of 26:42. My fastest 5K since re-Covid. Absolutely delighted with that.
Another pb WOW WOW WOW 😍 ☺️ 😃 😊 ,Ran at Bowling Park parkrun this week it's the toughest course locally to me so I was shocked by the time 29,38 now my pb. Well done to everyone who's done a parkrun today and if you haven't ever please do they are brilliant
We got there a bit early to collect the key for set up next week. We also had to find out about the new finish. They have been trying different routes over the last few weeks to avoid a swap which rarely dries even in summer.Hopefully we will remember it for next week.
Walking the finish beforehand we thought it would be tough going over the grass but by the time I finished (slow one today) it was well trampled. I guess the council will mow it once the final route is submitted for approval.
Well done Sue. I don’t like running on grass, especially when it gets wet. We just walked on it this morning when cheering and my shoes were covered in wet clippings. All clean now though.
An old haunt for us today at Seaford Beach - one we did pre lockdown and only a handful of times after as we moved at the end of 2020. Anyway perfect day really as no real wind and it wasn’t raining.
Also it was pacer day and for once there were pacers from 20mins up until 40 mins so I was delighted there was a 32 min one.
Managed to keep up with him until the turn half way and then he seemed to speed off into the distance 😩and I couldn’t keep up.
Glad to have finished in 32:37 (was secretly hoping to get under 32:20 as my PB on that course) but still pleased with my time.
Hello everyone. I think we must have been lucky with the weather in Lincolnshire this morning - dry and bright, so at least not raining but a really cold wind. I was back at my home parkrun at Market Rasen. Finally back under 35 minutes for the first time this year at 34.52. Still 6 minutes slower than my PB, but I think I can safely say that injury is behind me 😃🥳
Good afternoon Damien and friends. I ran at Ashton Court today; first time there for quite a while and it was cold and miserable first thing. That, plus Mr Cheeky’s birthday meal last night (Prosecco might have been consumed, and I’m not talking one glass), made it a tough decision whether to go at all this morning. 🙃
Still, it was AC’s 13th birthday and my friend’s 100th. I had no option did I? There were loads of PR milestones actually, including a 500th and 600th, along with some people who’d had specific AC ones. I mean, who in their right mind would want to run 250 times up and down that hill? 😳
I was relatively pleased with my 41:43 official time, even though it was very slow, as I took no less than 4 walking breaks and I thought it would be even slower. The running bits were actually OK. My aim is to get back to AC hill fitness; in fact I’m going back there for more tomorrow.
Great effort Cheeky. Sounds like a great morning of parkrun milestones, you should have brought some of the Prosecco with you. I love a glass or 4 of Prosecco myself.
Nice run for you today at Ashton Court parkrun CC, you say it was AC's 13th birthday and your friends 100th??, was that birthday or parkrun?, if birthday congratulations to your friend.
Ahhh, shame to miss you too MU! Let me know when you fancy coming along to PR next. I need to get back to doing it more often. And yes, AC hill repeats could also double up as military style beasting! 😅
I’ll go back tomorrow for my NRC 8k. I think I know how to stretch it to that distance without having to add extra hills. 🤞😳
Absolutely will do! Have a few busy Saturdays coming up which is a nuisance.
There’s a very nice cafe in Long Ashton called “The Old Library”. Their pastel de nata are to die for! You can reach it from Ashton Court along a fairly flat (by Ashton Court standards pancake flat!!) cycle path or along the main road. I’ve done that a few times to add on distance with a nice treat at the end!! I’m not sure if it’s open Sundays. Enjoy your 8km whichever way you go!
That does sound nice, although tomorrow I’ll have Flossie with me off lead so it probably wouldn’t work. My plan is to run up beyond the PR turnaround point, continue on to Longwood Lane (pretty flat), go back to the turnaround point, back to Longwood Lane again, then all the way back down the hill. Without the doubling back it’s 7k, so this should do it. 😀
Yes indeed Dexy. At my fittest, not only did I used to run there once a week, I used to wheel my baby grandson up the hill in his buggy. Almost easier to run! 🥵
It was fairly busy - close to 600, but the paths are wide.. I think it’s similar to QE, but the hill is longer so if you can slot into a rhythm you can just chug up then it’s all downhill. I had no rhythm today!
I did Jonathan, and I defeated that hill on my 8k this morning. I was on the snail superhighway where they were speeding past me, but I kept on chugging along with grim determination! AC lost its battle with me today! 💪🙏👊
You really need to give it a go Sandie, it’s steep in places, but once you’ve muscled your way up, it’s a lovely well deserved free wheel down! You know you want to get that A don’t you? 😅
ooh I didn’t get my email this week so didn't think you’d posted. But here I am after doing a NENDY tourist run with Oldgirlruns and UpTheStanley . It was less than 30 mins away around a recreation ground on tarmac paths with 1 small lap and 3 large laps. Pacers were available which is an extra treat and my main intention was not to let the 34 min pacer get ahead of me. He tried once but I gave a spurt and got in front again. Lots of lapping by faster runners but all very considerate and well behaved. It was 8C with a cooler NE breeze but we were quite well protected by surrounding buildings.
Pleased with a best time this year of 33:17, aided by taking advantage of the slightly downhill paths (after the up slopes). 2 speedy runners were well ahead of me in my age group this week. A good time was had by all.
Breakfast followed in M&S in the shopping area as the Costa Cafe looked a bit busy.
Hi Damien and everyone. I ran at Eastleigh parkrun today in celebration of a colleague who was doing his 400th parkrun and 300th at Eastleigh. The course is very hilly and run entirely on grass and mud! I’ve done this one once before and it was very wet and slippy then but thank goodness it was ok today. I came 2nd in my age category out of 4 and had a lovely cake and coffee with my colleague and his friends afterwards, so all in all a good morning.
notparkrun for me due to failure to get out of bed this morning! MrU and I went for an early evening run around the local country lanes. I had yesterday’s tempo run in my legs and it was hard work! Much harder work and much less fun than last week’s actual parkrun! The highlight was some cows thinking we were bringing them dinner and running across the field to say hi..,
I finally warmed up 2.5 miles into what was going to be a 3.1 mile run. He was done but it seemed like a good idea for me to round it up to 4 miles. Runners’ logic is a funny thing! I did enjoy the solo extension, and I was especially pleased to hit my 15 mile target for the week. Rest day tomorrow!
Busy day yesterday - hence my late post - but found the time to get to Portsmouth Lakeside for its 8th birthday!🥳 A good run and despite spending most of it chatting to a running buddy, I was pleased to be back on an improvement course with 31.39, 18 seconds faster than last week - onwards and upwards!
