Boring IC update

Been about 12 days since my boring IC post on what I thought was a minor groin strain. Since then it has got progressively worse. After sitting for 10 minutes or so I could hardly straighten my right leg because of the pulling pain which meant for 10 minutes or so I could barely walk until it gradually loosened up. After seeing Osteo then GP I today saw Ortho. Consultant who diagnosed rectus femoris enthesopathy!! Apparently a minor but painful sporting injury where the fibres of tendons attaching that muscle (one of your four quads) to the hip tear or become detached! Oh well who knew! Seeing him again on Saturday after MRI to decide to let it heal itself or have an ultrasound guided injection. Posting this for others info, hope it helps someone else. Hope to be running again soon

Ouch steviej! At least you have identified the problem and the remedy.... half the battle. Another niggle for us all to look out for. Hope you are back on the trail soon.

Thanks Beachcomber. Amazing how quickly the specialist identified it, guess that's what he gets the big money for! The other thing is how much better it feels as soon as you know what it is.

I am exactly the same.. identify the problem, have a plan to deal with it and have some idea of the recovery period. Feel loads better after that point!👍

Ouch Steve, that sounds horrible! Glad that you have a proper diagnosis though and a treatment plan. Fingers crossed that you heal soon! I am also having problems with my quads and hip flexors, which for me has resulted in knee problems! Saw physio today and like you, now have a plan of action. Good luck!

Thanks Sandra and good luck to you too. It's disappointing when these things happen just when things seem to be going well. I definitely need to look in to getting some good sports physio advice to improve my joint and overall flexibility. Good luck in your recovery

I feel for you laid up with an injury. I've got a Dr's appointment soon to hopefully rectify an ongoing knee injury. Not running is driving me nuts. Hope you're up and about very soon

Thanks steviej for posting this, definitely not boring! I think I may have a similar problem (have a GP appt in about a hundred years time!) Meanwhile I'm not running, ju ju's plan on hold for now. Hope you heal quickly, all the best x

Sorry to hear that Cloudbuster. The GP thing is crazy, don't know what would happen if you got ill!? Problem is when you get to see the GP he can't know what's happened so will simply refer you to a specialist then more delays. Not sure how long ago yours started but mine got steadily worse for about 10 days where I could hardly walk for 10 minutes after standing up but then one day later it's dramatically improved. So two days ago I was quite worried now i'm much more comfortable that another 2 or 3 weeks will see me running again. Good luck with your revovery
