Happy Days Are Here Again

After an enforced 2 weeks off running (piriformis syndrome) and only managing the occasional run of 2km once a week in rubbish weather, I’ve been quite despondent until now Da da! finally my stretches have paid dividends and I’m now pain free and on the last week of my programme to get back to 5km, hopefully completing my first parkrun in 10 weeks next Saturday.

24 degrees this morning, so cap, sunnies and sunscreen on. I reckon next winter I’m going to pop a little bit of sunscreen under my nose as one whiff of that coconut had me transported to the tropics 🌴 My earphones died halfway round, so what a blow he he! will have to buy some bluetooth wireless ear buds now to go with the new shoes and leggings. New shoes only came in black ☹️ so I bought some cheerful capris to make up for it. Off to do my planks now before bed. Have a brilliant week. Keep warm and safe everyone.

Good grief! They're really snazzy! I thought for a second they were sheets of Christmas wrapping paper 😂😂

Well done for your patience and stretching and enjoy those leggings.

Thanks IP, couldn’t resist them, they make me smile, I should have paid more attention to stretches before but you live and learn. 👍

Your weather is the polar opposite of ours currently! ☀️ 💦

Those are definitely snazzy capris! We should all wear those over here too, to cheer us all up (and the men of course!) 😅👍🏃‍♀️🏃

Thanks CC, the decent weather has been a long time coming. Got back from my run today, showered and then we were hit with thunderstorms. I got the leggings from the UK, shipped here still cheaper than here and they are really fun. Hmm! Meggings, now that would be a sight for sore eyes! 🤦🏼‍♀️

I get emails from both Sturdy and Tikiboo, love them. I get loyalty discount from Sturdy now 🤣 If it hadn’t been for you I would never have carried on running after graduation (was running in grey tights) and was bored, saw your photos of your leggings and Wow! now I’ve come OUT!

Sadly by the time I get the sales specials emails from them over here, my size has already gone, but they are so much cheaper than here, so I don’t begrudge the cost x

in reply tolexi6

Well I’m glad my addiction has helped you😊 how could anyone resist running when such glory encases their legs 😍

I think Sturdies sell out in all sizes now. Since she started the Facebook group, her sakes have rocketed. Her brilliant customer service helps too x

Thanks Tbae I wasn’t good at being “er indoors” while I was injured, now I’m retired, I need to keep active, otherwise the despondency takes over. This forum and you lot are a tonic. 👍 😎

Yay! Glad the PS has cleared up - I had a touch of that once, but Irishprincess came to my rescue with the seated figure-of-four stretch. (Bless you m'am.) Keep up those stretches, Lexi. i love the leggings! You needed a treat/reward for being so patient on the IC. :-)

Happy running to you. xxx

I'm currently doing the "leg over a bench" pose (pigeon pose) and OMG! I thought I was fairly loose but nooooo. I. Am.Not 😩

Sadie-runs profile image
Sadie-runsGraduate10 in reply toIrishprincess

Oooh pigeon pose 🐦 is my favourite post-run stretch. Good ole bum stretch. 😁👍

lexi6 profile image
lexi6Graduate10 in reply toSadie-runs

🤣 I’m amazed at the number of different ways there are to stretch those muscles 😬 , but it feels so good afterwards. X

lexi6 profile image
lexi6Graduate10 in reply toIrishprincess

Pigeon pose is my “favourite” and I used to be so flexible ha, not any more, still Its worth it and I’ll carry on doing them, I can’t handle the IC. ☹️

Irishprincess profile image
IrishprincessGraduate10 in reply tolexi6

I find doing it on a bench gives me a deeper stretch than doing it on the floor but you do need to make sure whoever's with you knows what you're doing otherwise you look as if you've collapsed!

Or maybe that's just me......

lexi6 profile image
lexi6Graduate10 in reply toIrishprincess

Thanks for the tip IP I think I may have to try that, currently I’m doing all exercises on the floor and one of our dogs thinks its an invitation to play, she is too short to jump on a bench - ha sorted!

lexi6 profile image
lexi6Graduate10 in reply toSadie-runs

I’m thinking you’re right maybe a new pair of earbuds AND new shoes. Like the ad says “because we’re worth it” 👍 x

Oh brilliant, new Sturdys - and are those Tikiboo Mr Men? and so glad you are back running xxx

Thanks Flick for the wishes and addiction. I have a very addictive personality but gorgeous leggings and running are pretty good addictions to have I think and way cheaper I imagine. In the New Year I’m going to start back on the 10k plan, can’t do without running now. 👍 x

in reply tolexi6

Good for you to the 10k plan. Gotta justify buying all those leggings 😊

Glad you’re doing better again now, lexi6 and WOW what cool capris! 😃❤️❤️

Have to admit I’ve lots of (boring ninja black / grey) capris for the gym, and thought I’d be wearing them most of the year for running. With the summer temperatures here though, I ran all summer in shorts, then as soon as the weather turned cooler I wanted full length tights to keep my calves warm! So not much use for capris this year! 😂😂

lexi6 profile image
lexi6Graduate10 in reply tomountaindreamer

They are lovely aren’t they? Ninja black rocks! In my previous life as a postie many years ago I lived in shorts. Our postmens branch was all female (Amazonians) and we wore our shorts through winter as well. If I can get a tan this year might be brave and try some longer ones. Just had a vision of me looking like Eric Morecambe in his fabulous shorts so maybe not! 😂 x

mountaindreamer profile image
mountaindreamerGraduate10 in reply tolexi6

I just found it too hot here with anything but shorts, so gave up worrying what I looked like! (I never tan anyway.) 😂😂

I found the double layer running shorts with Lycra inner shorts most comfortable, and depending on the length of the Lycra inner they can be a bit less revealing too. 😀

I need some longer inners for next year, as rather than making my thighs thinner, all this running is making them bigger - which meant I could have done with a longer length to avoid chaffing! 😳

lexi6 profile image
lexi6Graduate10 in reply tomountaindreamer

Those shorts sound like a plan, ouch! not the chafing though. Must admit I’m less concerned at my appearance running now, compared to my first attempt at c25 where I was so self conscious I ran round the house, progressing to the garden and driveway on the longer runs! 🤷🏼‍♀️
