Quick run report from a wonderful day (annual leave day) just focussing on myself.
Sleep-in, then I headed out late morning for a beautiful Jeffing run (week 5 of my return from calf strain plan), now 4 min running and 1 min walking, repeated 8 times.
Thoroughly enjoyed that. Sun glimpsing through the winter-stark trees. Not too cold or hot. And I’ve finally reached my fairy house way-marker again, which always is an indication that I’m getting closer to my 5k run distance.
I love out-and-back routes, as I can tell progress so much better through increasing distances achieved on the run .
However I was struggling a little bit with energy as I am rationing my medication (Hashimotos) until my next GP visit (and I’m grumbling about all GPS who with-hold repeat prescriptions until after an appointment) . I can tell my energy levels are down, legs feel heavier, I’m panting more than usual. But nevertheless it felt good.
Back home, stretch, shower, pea protein smoothie for breakfast. Then a Yoga session. Resistmas band exercise. And then another 40 min session on my rower.
Who would have thought a few years ago that my perfect relaxing annual leave day was a day full of mindful and strengthening outdoor and indoor workouts.
But it really left me feeling relaxed and peaceful again.
We topped it off with a take-away Indian curry for dinner.
Happy days!

You certainly deserved that curry after a run, yoga, resistance band AND rowing. I do wish I could have the will power to even do all that in a week!! Not even the prospect of keeping up my fitness in order to start running again after my sore achilles is motivation....😒. S & F gremlins have a firm hold... . What a lovely route that looks and you must be so thrilled to be nearly back to 5k again 😍 🚶♀️🏃♀️🚶♀️🏃♀️🍂🍂🍁
I really feel lucky that i don’t have very many gremlins to deal with. Yes, the one or other weekend morning where I want to sleep in, but other than that I am in that lucky state where I really desire to go out and do a run, or I want to do that 40min session with my music on the rower.
This is a fairly new feeling for me, but one that started with running 3 years ago.
I’m ultra-slow, mind you, both in running or rowing. I still can’t do a non-extended child's pose. Pushups seem to be impossible for my arms, and lunges are mechanically inconceivable for my knees.
But I am enjoying trying them everyday in my own little workout spaces at home and by myself, but joined by so many virtual workout buddies from these forums and other places.
Let’s keep on keeping on and see where it takes us!
My GP has me on an automatic renewal at the current dosage (100µg). With mine it's "no news is good news", and they don't contact you unless something is wrong.
At my most recent nurse visit (for flu jab) I asked about the previous week's test results, and they were in target range. The previous week I asked the other nurse who took my bloods about previous tests and she went "Wow! That was high!" at my initial TSH levels (from six years ago).
Yeah, my GP sometimes withholds prescriptions when I don’t come to blood tests ( but respectfully, I know by now how to manage my condition better than my GP).
But this is the first time they are withholding prescriptions after a blood test so I am wary of what I might have to argue.
I’ll come armed with loads of stats and printouts and weekly nutrition and exercise diaries (as well as NICE guidelines and academic books). So i would hope that they cannot really fob me off anymore. I’m pretty certain I’ve been continually under-medicated as I’ve been on 100yg for a decade. But my weight is significantly above yours, so they obviously never counted in my weight.
The only time I’ve ever was able to lose weight is when I increased dosage. So that will be my goal for that next GP interaction I will have. Wish me luck!
A motivated patient nowadays often has resources available to them which mean that they are better informed and more up to date than a GP who may not have read up on that subject in several years.
I dont know how you have the willpower but well done especially on your day off. Good run as well. Hope you have plenty time off at Xmas with a bit of me time. Mr D and I retired Monday but don’t know where the time has went especially after clearing out the shop to sell. Got my 4 km walk this morning and Mr D 5 km run. It’s hard getting appointments never mind prescriptions. Hope you get your energy back soon.
GPs and prescriptions…don’t get me started. Managing OH’s meds, 4 drugs…all allegedly on a batch…every time I go to pick them up from the chemist there’s something wrong 🤨
…and I’ve been under medicated since the beginning with my thyroxine…put me on 50mcg (when I weighed 13.5st), and not changed it at all. 🤷🏻♀️
Anyway, lovely pix and a great result for your well-being…self care is so important. 💐💕
😊 thanks for understanding. Treatment for thyroid conditions are so often insufficiently understood by the medical establishment. So these forums are so important. Thank you. 🙏😊
