Some of you will know already, but mainly just posting here to give hope to others and have a record of my journey!
After achieving a 6K while on holiday, I slowed down on a cooler night at home this week and pushed for a 7K. Stats aren't great, but I know I'll get faster in time. For now I'm content with dragging my 18st frame around for 7K (almost an hour!!!).
I'm sure there are many before me that have said it, and there will be many many more afterward...…………..but...…… I never in a million years, thought I'd be able to run/shuffle/drag myself around 7K. Following ju-ju- 's 10K plan has made this all possible.
Aiming to add 1K a week now, if possible. My knees ached a bit after this run, and I have a PR on Sat morning. I'm tentatively thinking of signing up for my first 10K race on 1st September, if I can get to 8K next week, then I know I can get to 10K.
I never thought I'd say/write those words either - I'm still a bit in awe of the whole process.
I think it was Tbae earlier this week that summed it up perfectly with a Thomas Jefferson quote:
"To get something you have never had, you must be willing to do something you've never done"
However far you are going this week - Be willing, believe & repeat!
Happy running!

Amazing Mitch - well done! It’s such a fantastic achievement isn’t it - starting from 1 minute running a few months ago to this! I did 6.6k this morning - my longest run - and loved every minute until I went crashing to the floor again - suffice it to say no more running with the dog - it’s too dangerous! So happy for you - huge congratulations - and you’ll do the 10K no worries! 😉 🏃x
Fantastic! Think I need to look at that plan instead of just going out 3 times a week (although at least I’m still going out!!). Love the quote too. 10k here you come!
I'm not using an app for the training plan, I just use Strava for tracking. If you want to follow ju-ju's plan, there is a pinned post on the main B210K page. It builds on distance each week rather than time, which is much better for most people.
Adding 1k a week will have you graduating very soon! I’m due to go up to 8k next week too, but plan to do the repeat weeks to hopefully get to 10K in 8 weeks.🤞 I’m also eyeing up a 10k race at the moment (I want bling!😂), but it’s not until mid October, so I’m in no mad rush. 😊😎
Tbh - I might have to do that as well, but I added 1k last week, so thought that if I can do it why not (while listening to my creaking bones!! lol)
I had already signed up for a 10K on 7th Oct, and have just signed up for 10K on Sept 1st as well...… but if I can't make it for any reason, I'm not going to stress about it
I think several of the recent graduates did miss weeks out, Mitch, so I’m sure it’s doable. I’m just a bit wary of injuries, so may aim to take my time more.
Cheers David - Knee's still complaining abit tonight, but think that's from standing around today.… Hopefully will be ok tomorrow for the Park Run!
Lovely post Mitch, thanks. I’ve been feeling anxious all evening about an 8km race that I’m doing tomorrow. I feel much more positive thanks to you. We’ll get there 👍
What a lovely post loungelizaard and you are an inspiration to those of us who haven’t yet made the move on the bridge. It’s great watching everyone run by in their new running shoes and colourful Lycra 🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️👟👟
Playing in the bridge is as far as I’ve got LL - pooh sticks mainly.
No, I haven’t achieved 3 x 5k runs a week yet so I’ll dilly dally a bit longer. I’m hoping the cooler weather will help this week. But you know, my target was to be able to take part in a 5k race, I have achieved far more than I hoped for. 🏃♀️🤸♀️🏃♀️
Brilliant Mitch...Well done 👏👏 My week conspired against me so planning my 7k tomorrow. Am a bit scared tbh...my 5k last night felt like I'd only just started running! Was silly-tired before I started though. No parkrun this week but will aim to do it next week when I haven't been scrambling around Snowdonia and taking 17 yr old to Uni campus tours 😖
