Well , what an interesting week . I've had some IC and walking not running weeks but I've been to see a sports physio (from the young woman who sold me new shoes) who offers free consultations ( I think because most of his work is for the private insured ) and loves running, and loves helping runners.
It was great to see all the reassuringly correct angles of my body drawn out on a screen after running on a treadmill, but , who knew? we discovered that I'm running "on a tightrope" and not on two parallel lines, seeing where my feet land. So work to do but he's not going to charge me an arm and a leg for four sessions to help me and I've got some "go for the burn" calf exercises to do.
So today I felt like Charlie Chaplin trying to get the knees out a bit. Happy with a nice steady 5k again though .
I feel passionately that I want to be able to do this running lark injury free and happily for years ahead so that was my treat to myself. Nowhere near the 10k but happy and healthy ...now where's my bowler hat?

If I talk nicely to the receptionist I get coffee. I need to check my work health insurance to see if I can wangle some super-duper physio with treadmill thingy tho....
In the meantime I'll just wear a beguiling smile and be ready to get my kit off as required....
Am loving seeing the JB guys are back out in the sunshine, Stephen! 😊❤️
My legs obviously look so bad that only my Chiro can bear to look at them! I’d get weird looks if I went for Physio at the Sports Therapist’s and started taking my shorts off!! 😂😂
That's sounds really interesting. The one in my gym 'sports injury clinic' does something similar, ie a full and proper gait analysis without a shoe sale attached. I have never seen a physio for anything or even had a sports massage, I really need to explore those things.
I watched this yesterday on the tube and found it really helpful with regards to bringing together all the tips on leg movement. It's a whole series so need to watch the other bits..
A sports Physio offering free consultations sounds great! Good find! 😃
I’m also about to start working on my own weird gait... It’s odd realising you really haven’t got a clue what’s going on until someone films it for you! Good luck on the improvements! 😊🏃♂️👣❤️
Yes he was a lucky find.Perhaps the business puts a bit aside to help the proles who can't have a spree on Private Physios! Anyway , anyone who can answer my niave questions gets the thumbs up.Anyone who can spell niave help me out!
Crikey this thread just got very highbrow, and I only popped by to learn about gait analysis! Carry on folks, I'll try not to disturb you as I tiptoe out again...
