I really should plan my runs a bit better!

It’s Vitality Virtual 10k next Sunday so I didn’t want to overdo things. Yesterday I might have gone for 8k but today I thought 7 or maybe 6, depending how I felt - I’ve had ‘a back’ for a few weeks which doesn’t seem to want to get better. So I split the difference and thought 6.5 would be fine and of course it turned out to be 6.8! Oh well, what’s a few metres between friends? The seafront was packed with runners - I’ve never seen so many on a Sunday morning but today should have been the Great South Run so they were obviously doing it virtually instead. Though I wasn’t too sure about the group running along in shortie wetsuits.... I guess they were triathletes but it did look a bit strange - and that from an OGR who loves to slip into a little rubber number (to head into the water with some scuba gear 😂). Anyway I hope they enjoyed their (not)GSR - it was certainly a lovely morning for it. Happy running folks!

Thanks BC - you wouldn’t think so to look at me this afternoon; I feel pooped!

Well done - hope your back eases soon. You will be fine for the Vitality run - if nothing else, grim determination gets the job done. 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks Fionamags - yes determination and possibly walking will do it!

I love that, (not) GSR, taking a leaf out of (not) parkrun, everything now is virtual, even the Santa Dash 5K runs this year are going to be virtual or (not) Santa Dash, anyway a good 6.8K run for you today, I am sure the reason you saw so many runners was because they were running the GSR virtually, good luck for your 10K next Sunday. 😊 🏃🏾

Thanks Alan, yes it looks as though we’re going to be in a virtual world for a while to come!

Great that you got out OGR shame about the back, look after it and it will look after you

More runners here too today x

You had me at 'rubber number!'

Looks like you did the right thing today and I wish you every success next week. A couple of runs this week and you'll be ready 😃😃😃

Well done Oldgirl, a fine run before your tapering week. We came across a group of triathletes or iron men yesterday too. It’s all go on Southsea seafront.

Well done persuading that back of yours to behave! I hope it settles soon. All ready for all that Vitality! 😄

It was a lovely day for a run. Almost no wind, would have been perfect for the GSR. We were rather late off the mark so didn’t run until lunchtime. I also stayed away from the prom, as I tend to at weekends, running past Temeraire and down through Old Portsmouth and back along ladies mile. The section of seafront between Clarence Pier and Old Portsmouth is now closed for sea defence work which means yet another change to the circular longer routes I used (am annoyed that you still can’t access the waterfront between the IOW ferry and Gunwharf thanks to the shopping centre’s COVID boundary fencing). No idea what we will do once the sea defence works takes the main prom sections!
