Baby steps...

...back. I had my 2nd sports massage earlier this week and my leg had felt much better, I was walking normally without pain for a change. Decided to try a short run/walk today in advance of my 10k event on Sunday.

Weather was lovely, sun in and out of clouds, not too hot, just right for capris and short sleeves. I took new headphones and the ear buds turned out to be too big and kept falling out of my ears so I gave up and ran without music. That was quite nice on a lovely quiet morning. Just me and my thoughts.

The nettles and other weeds have grown a lot higher in the 3 weeks since I last took this route (and injured myself). Sadly though, I was 'aware' of the leg problem all the time, especially when I"d walked a bit then restarted running.

I did just under 2.5k in a slow time. Quite discouraging. However, I'm going to turn up for the event on Sunday, the atmosphere may carry me through, and I can always walk most of it if needed. My lovely daughter has booked us a table for brunch or lunch, 2 hours after the start time. Surely I can make that? Will keep you posted! 😄

But did it hurt Joy? If there was no pain then that's good. I do think that when we first run after injury we become more aware and hesitant and I know I overthink my injuries while most of the time they're ok.

I know you'll enjoy the day and there'll be plenty of people walking. It seems to be a race for fun in many cases. Good luck 🙂

It did hurt IP. That was my euphemism of being 'aware' of it. 😄

When I got home I iced it, then stretched, showered and iced it again. After about 2 hours though it was feeling normal again on walking. So I am partly optimistic about Sunday, I'm going to give it a go anyway! Thanks!

Always tricky when we head out after injury... "will it, won't it" ? syndrome. You sound as if it went well...:)

Take it steady on Sunday and enjoy your lunch xxx yes you will be there on time:)

Hopefully a few more days will do the trick. Good luck.

PS: I noticed the surge in nettles this morning too.
