This Sunday I took part in Relish Running Wye Valley Tunnel 10k. It is the first proper live event I have done since cancer research 5k's a few years ago! I really enjoyed it BUT also found some bits strange.... I was unprepared to know what to do when a group of you start off. I ended up running behind groups and being really cautious about passing (mostly thinking I wouldn't maintain a pace faster), but actually feeling slower than normal. It turns out my pace was slighlty faster than normal (no hills) but I didn't know this. It was really strange running with other footsteps around me. Running through the 1km tunnel was amazing though! It was so cool on what turned out to be quite a hot day! It gave me a boost at the start as it was so different and then a much needed energy boost at the end as it cooled me down. It was lovely to get encouragment while running and weird having a camera pointing at you at unexpected points! I do highly recommend this event and I want to try the Bath two tunnels run now too. I do know I never would have attempted this without the advice and support I have had from this forum
