My daughter has been staying with us for a couple of days! (She lives down south)
I asked her if she wanted to come out for a wee run with me yesterday evening and she actually agreed!! She said as we set out on our brisk warm up walk “ this time last year I never thought I’d be going out running with my mum!! ) She thinks I’m ancient!!!
It was brightening up after a drizzly day so we headed towards the beach along a nice quiet country road! After about 10 mins she got a stitch so we walked for a bit and then carried on chatting at a comfortable pace! It was lovely as I normally run alone! Even when I go out with small group once a week!!
At one point she said have you ever tried sprinting???!! Then she took off and left me for dust!!! It was quite short lived though! I caught up with her and after that she suggested we just walk the rest of way!! I said yes of course! She kept saying I bet you want to keep running!! I said I was happy to do what she wanted! Anyway it was such a lovely time spent together, something we’ve never really done before!! 😀🏃♀️

What a lovely post, I envy you. I keep asking my daughters if they'd like to run with me, but they decline. One doesn't run at all and the other one wanted to run with me when I couldn't run but now doesn't want to because she thinks I will show her up.
That’s the first time we’ve run together since I started running last September! We did a Parkrun down in St Albans where she lives over a year ago and we got round ok but that spurred me on to get fit I think!!!
She’s more of a gym fan! Hopefully she’ll come with me again sometime! 😀
I love running with my daughter but although she is at least 1 minute a mile faster than me and always says “we’ll go at your pace mum “ and then sneaks the pace up a bit when she thinks I’m not noticing I’ve found I do longer runs when I run on my own
I think we ran for about 15 mins before she got her stitch and after that she wasn’t keen to run much more even though she did her wee sprint!!! I’m more of a keep plodding on runner and seem to be able to keep going for ages!! She likes that I run now but gets annoyed if I talk about it too much!!!! 😀
Yeah I think I’m turning into a running bore. But as my daughter runs too we just talk running to each other. My sons are very supportive too, although one is trying to get me into Power Lifting after I went to watch him compete at the weekend and had a sneaky go too.
Oh my younger son supports ME but won’t do anything himself. We’ve tried to get him to run, not interested, swim? Nope. I got him to come to the gym with me for a whole year once and he did all he was given to do by the trainers and had a good go at it all too but at the end of the year he said I’ve not lost an ounce or an inch and I don’t feel any better for it so I shan’t do it again
