A big Mexican wave that just keeps going ......

morning fellow bloggers :)

Newbies might find this interesting. It is nearly a month since I started blogging, I was consumed by fear, always anxious and lived in nerves of something bad happening. I have suffered from anxiety and depression for many years but sometimes can go months without even thinking about it. Then something triggers it and the nightmare starts again.

This site has been a godsend for me, I try to blog everyday, sometimes it's good and sometimes it's bad but I always try to be honest with myself. Not everything works for everybody, I chose not to take medication, I tried it didn't like it, but I know people it does work for. I'm a bit of an old hippy at heart so for me diet and nutrition is important, I try to eat well even when I don't feel like it, I take St John's Wort, Omega 369 and a well woman multi vitamin. It could be all in my head but they work for me.

Excerise is also a vital part for me, I used to run but actually find it stressful now, so I walk. I have also discovered meditation and I can't recommend 100 breaths enough. Basically that's all you do breath in and out slowly and count to 100. :) I can also recommend CBT but like most things you only get out what you put in.

I also have to thank a certain member of this site who gave me enlightment. He made realise I don't have to fight my anxiety but I have to accept to as part of me. I have found a new inner peace, I still get anxious but now I know it will pass, I will have good days and bad days. I don't beat myself up about the bad days, but I try and find the positive. The more positive thoughts I put in the better I feel, and sometimes I just do nothing and let the maddness wash out me.

Hi Tara

Was so lovely to read your blog :) all the positive vibes you are sending out makes me feel one day i may be free for awhile to enjoy life.

I have resided to tell myself i will have good days and bad days and i will try and stay focused and positive about my physical thoughts. This anxiety and panic is like a giant roller coaster.

I decided to take medication to help me but its a small dose and to be honest in the beginning i was scared because i really do not like taking medication but must admit it has helped.

I do breathing exercises which when feeling lightheaded can help and was advised to do by the therapist. Sometimes a wave of panic comes over me and then the panic takes over. I keep saying do your best and fight. But reading your blog you don't have to fight anxiety but accept its part of us makes a lot of sense to be honest.
