Hi toby

Could be that you may be frightened of them , I am very fearful of meds

But ....the fact you are having more good than bad days & you dont mention any nasty side effects says they are doing you some good :-)

My hubby takes them ...not for anxiety for something else & he just pops one in & never gives it another thought (what it must be like to be normal !!! lol)

Think this may be a little anxiety as we are always weary of new things

I wouldnt adjust the dose without asking your GP , again my hubby needed his adjusting , but it does stress you should always ask your own GP ,

If you are feeling better on them I would keep giving them a chance

Let us no how you go on

Thankyou whywhy as you say i think i am frightened of them i am trying relaxation excercises they might help and yes i think i should pop one in and stop stressing this anxiety will not beat me. Im seeing my counsellor on monday so i will have a word with her and if need be make an appointment with my doctor while im there I will let you know how it goes xxxxx

Hi Toby,

I was prescribed betablockers 2 years ago and never took them as I was too scared. I thought I cold overcome my depression and anxiety and taking the meds 'confirmed' that I was ill. I couldn't admit to it as if I did I would be a failure and I didn't want my family and friends to worry. I 'plodded' on for 18 months but my depression came back with such a force last year the doctor prescribed them again. I am now taking them as they do help with the palpitations. I think having an ECG the other day made me realise that if I didn't take them then my health would deteriate. I am also recieving CBT, early days but I hope it will help. I agree, speak to your doctor. Take care. Lizzy

Hi Toby , I have taken 3x40mg for the last 34 years and never noticed any side effects. I take them for palpitations and anxiety. I hope you are not breaking them in half lovie as sometimes this doesn't work and more of the active ingredient can be in one half. Don't worry, go to the GP and see what he/she says. If they reduce them they will give you smaller dose tablets. Love and Hugs x Ella x

Thankyou Ella im going for my counselling session on monday i will make an appointment while im there xxx
