Hi warkie

Anxiety sufferers are so good at listening to horror stories !

OK the person that you were speaking to suffers from anxiety , they may have passed out , but they may have been going to pass out any way because of something else , the fact they suffer with anxiety , possibly they have jumped to the conclusion that is why they passed out !

I have suffered years with anxiety & felt many times that I will pass out , but never have yet !

Watching a programe now about something else & this young girl has something wrong , but its like so many thousands that have her condition , if its possible that this person did pass out with anxiety , they may just have been unlucky & been one in so many thousands that it has ever happened to , the odds that you would be one well..... I wont be rushing to put a bet on that you will lol

You said its your worse fear , that is what you feel now fear , dont feed it , breath & let it go

You will not pass out , not with anxiety

Hope i havnt rambled on & hope you feel a bit reasured

Thank you so much for the advice,it just freaks me out because i feel like im going to keal over then when i heard that i was a nervous wreck xx

In all my time in counselling, and before and after, I have never heard of anyone passing out with anxiety. You may well FEEL like it but it doesn't happen. As whywhy says, we are good at listening to horror stories. It is part of this rotten complaint to fasten on to the negative. We never seem to see anything positive even if it hits us over the head! Some of you may have heard Bing Crosby (now I show my age) singing. "You've got to eliminate the negative; latch on to the affirmative; have faith in the positive and don't mess with Mister in between". Wise words from a great guy. Keep looking up, warkie. Jonathan.

Hey Warkie, I have passed out once from anxiety but this was before I even knew what I was suffering from or how to manage it. Now, I understand that if I fear passing out, I begin to panic and I become a self fulfilling prophecy. My best advice is, if you ever begin to feel like you are going to pass out, focus on your breathing. What I tell myself that really helps is "You are having a panic attack, you control this" I than begin focusing on my heart beat, which is frantic, and I focus on slowing it down. It works every time. It is like a reset button for me. When someone passes out, that is the body reseting itself therefore if you can "reset" your mind and body before it gets to this point, you will never pass out.
